I have not known any to be green. I have seen blue and sunburst and cherry red (I think ).
I heard Fender no longer make them?
Is this true.
That is true but I believe they are modifying them and are going to bring them back.

Does your bass weigh 10 pounds? All of my RB5's weigh ten pounds. Seems like that is the average weight for these.

Nice! I used to have the Aguilar outboard preamp (like an OBP-2), and it sounded amazing in this combo. I traded it in for the Sadowsky preamp I have now, and although I lost a little bit of top end, the Sad's just more user friendly and practical. Out of curiosity, would you have bought an outboard version of an OBP 3 instead if they came out with one?

I love the look of your bass! I have to add a RB5 to the long list of cool basses i would like to own.
Don't think so, I came from a Stingray over a very short encounter with a Bongo and was used to the on-board
convenience. I do like the passive sound of the RB V and use it probably 50/50, just that the OBP adds some
nice high end sizzle and bottom end, opens it up kind of.
I initially hoped to fit the battery under the pick guard, No way possible
but since I new this was a keeper from day 1 I had no hesitation getting the battery box routed in.

Sweet, I am thinking just maybe, I'll do my red bass like that. Although, I would not want anything different from the original RB5 look. So they would have to route an easy open compartment underneath to switch to active for the few times I might consider using it. It would have two boxes underneath, one for the battery and the other one for the preamp control. And you know that there are so many choices of preamps out there,(demeter, sadowsky, bartolini, aguilar, emg, mike pope) I mean the list goes on and on. I'll wait to see what Fender does with the newer versions first, that's if I would do anything at all to it. I really like this bass passive. Maybe I will get an experimental bass for that.

My favourite setting has to be the "Jaco on steroids". Tone pulled up, pickup selector in the middle, both pickups set to parallel (switches towards headstock).
I find its a tone that sits in nicely without too much unnecessary tweaking. Not quite as roaring as a humbucker, but a little more balls than a single coil.

I tend to use the "Fender Jazz" mode...both pups switches in the middle for single-coil, pup selector switch in the middle, tone wide open. Sometimes I pull up the tone knob.

I pretty much use Shelly's settings most of the time but I adjust my tone knob according to how much treble or how low I want.
