Salukis? Beautiful! Love to see them run... Fun to see them singing, too!

I wanted to share this with you all. The first picture was sent to me this morning. It's 5 years ago, the first pic of my Freddy from his rescue. He's absolutely terrified in this pic, having spent his entire life on a chain to that point. From the woman who rescued him:

He was chained (to one of the poles of a carport) out there on the bare ground along with a bunch of trash, etc… he did have an old wooden doghouse and a couple old blankets, an empty food bowl and water bowl. And just the sweetest, most hopeful demeanor! After we'd made friends, I poured a bottle of water in his bowl and he lapped it up immediately. I took pics to send to Debbie David and gave him a handful of dog food, telling him I'd be back! You should have seen him when I returned! He recognized my pickup coming down the alley! My daughter had agreed to meet me with her two dogs in a big open grassy area by our football field to see how he was with other dogs… He was a Prince… and the rest is history!

The other pics are very recent - he doesn't have a care in the world now, is a brave, friendly dog, and excellent big brother to our latest rescue (Phoebe - we got her last New Year's Day)

Beautiful pooch. Thanks for giving Freddie a forever loving home. That said, have you ever noticed that most rescue dogs are so loyal and grateful? My pooch, "Lucky Dog" is a rescue also that was beaten and abused by some evil jerk of a person.

For about ten years now, my daughter and I have been volunteers at the local animal shelter where there are often dogs who have been neglected and abused. When they come in they are sometimes extremely defensive, but after a while they come around and find good homes. Here are two, Brad the pit bull and Gino the German Shepherd. At first, you couldn't touch them, but as you can see, they responded to care and affection. They both were adopted.

Those are awesome!

So without grandkids to spoil we just spoil the grandpups.

Yesterday was my marvelous Mrs's birthday and when I asked her what she wanted to do she said "let's take the puppies to see Santa at Petco." Ok, the kids were all working or otherwise busy so we had them anyway. Off we go. The hardest part of the process was getting my daughter's pup Mya to walk in the store. She has a strange fear of new places and "starfishes" on the floor, I carried her 1/2 the time. Ah, the things we do.
