You can never really be too prepared for death. Even when you know it's coming, it still feels like it sneaks up on you.
Our pets are our family as we don't have kids. Got married late in life and that ship had already sailed. So our kids are our four legged friends.
They trust us to look out for their best interest and it's tough when their best interest is to let them rest.

I inclined to believe, especially with dogs, you reap what you sow. Dogs are naturally loyal, and their love is unconditional. When we as owners treat them well, with love and affection, then they usually return that back to us in great amounts. Shows that a caring environment and good treatment make all the difference in the world, and the animal almost always reciprocates.
Or they could just be hungry.

There were times when I wondered if he had!
When I was a kid we had a Basenji who would touch her nose to a 9v battery and then run around the house like a maniac, then come back and do it again.
I have no idea how she got access to a 9v battery. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
As previously posted on page 6 of this thread, my beloved Weimaraner, Greta had to be put down in late October 2017. On November 3rd of this year, my wife and I picked up our new "baby", Lily Rose. She's a GoldenDoodle (Golden Retriever/Poodle hybrid). I forgot how tiring it can be having a puppy around, but hopefully she'll turn out to be a great pet...
Another Odie shot. This dog is one of the smartest I've ever been around. Plus he's pretty mellow unless (1) he wants to eat, or (2) wants to play fetch. So much love for this guy.
