Heartbroken Dog Won't Stop Cuddling Pillow Of His Brother Who Passed Away
"They had never spent a night apart."
For 10 long and happy years, Spencer and Rocky were inseparable pals. Indeed, the sweet pups' greatest delight was simply being around one another.
"They had never spent a night apart," Beth Fisher, the dogs' owner, told The Dodo. "Rocky and Spencer slept in the same bed, ate from the same bowl and always walked together when they went out."
Sadly, however their joyous time together recently came to a close.
During a visit to the vet to pinpoint an ailment the blonde dog Rocky had developed, a large cancerous tumor was found to be growing inside of him. The tragic discovery, made too late for treatment, left only one option to end the poor pup's suffering.
"Rocky had to get put down that day," Fisher said. "It was hard to process Rocky's sudden death, but we can't imagine how hard it must be for Spencer to have lost his little brother."
Spencer was heartbroken — and it showed.
"Since Rocky passed, Spencer has been getting up in the night to wander the house looking for his brother," Fisher said. "And then he starts crying because he can't find him."
Rocky's ashes were placed on a shelf above where he and his brother slept, to keep the pair close. But it was apparent that Spencer needed something more to help him to cope.
So, Fisher's dad ordered this: a pillow for Spencer with Rocky's smiling face printed on it.
Right away, the thoughtful gift put Spencer at ease. The pillow honoring Rocky seems to have helped fill the void his passing had left in Spencer's heart.
"Spencer has been cuddling into the pillow
since it arrived, carrying it from the sofa to his own bed," Fisher said. "He seems a lot more settled now he's got something to cuddle into."
The mourning dog sleeps alone no longer.
Nothing, of course, can ever bring Rocky back completely. Though as Spencer, who himself is getting on in age, drifts off to sleep, it's reassuring to know his best friend is still by his side in spirit.
The way he always had been.
I don't think Spencer will ever get over Rocky's passing, but I hope he's able to learn to go on without him," Fisher said, adding that the path forward is one he'll never have to face alone.
"We're hoping Spencer is able to take comfort in his new pillow, and take comfort from all the cuddles he's getting from his family,"
This pup is so good looking, he or she needs to be in Dog food commercials. Just sayin.
From the info section underneath: So, here's the story. Our daughter Hallee Fuqua has been asking for a dog for Christmas for years. We told her she should wait until after she graduates college. She began volunteering at the Humane Society of Stillwater. She fell in love with a dog named Rambo and visited him often. My wife and I decided to secretly adopt him 3 weeks ago. With the help from the Humane Society we kept it a secret. She found out this weekend that Rambo had been adopted and she was broken. So Sunday night we surprised her with her early Christmas present. We captured the moment on video. Merry Christmas Hallee!

Great shot, but it hurts me a lot seeying stuff like this.
I think it's morally wrong to bring innocent creatures to war and exploit them for something they don't want, they don't need, they don't deserve.

You are right, but war is basically dispensing with morality, that animal rights along with a lot of other horrible stuff end up a far distant second to winning.
The same is for Police, Anti-Terrorism squads etc. They sometimes use dogs as cannon fodder (literaly) and after they're dead they call them "heroes" and do pompous funerals with salute and all that stuff. How hypocritical is that? They don't want to be heroes, they're just animals. They could send serial killers and/or pedophiles to do that, right?

Horses, mules, oxen, even birds are conscripted. And animal civilians who happen to be in the way of armies pay with their lives for a dispute that isn't even theirs. So there's something I can't understand either.
This crossed my desk this weekend:
"Here is how the White Buffalo Woman keeps the peace. She has a sacred feather. If she touches a warrior on the shoulder with her feather - it is because he is making a disturbance of the peace. If she does it twice, the third time means an end is put to the misbehaving. There is a volcanic tube out east of the mountains. It is called the place with No Name. It is now called Hell's Half-Acre. They carry the offender to the place with No Name and his fate is to enter the volcanic tube. There is no way out. Maybe they push or throw the offender in the tube. Place with No Name. Good fate for those who breach the peace (though that volcanic tube seems a little primitive)."

Of course, that particular Jenga block should belong to the dog henceforth now and forever more. It's her well-earned trophy!
