Hillsboro Single w/Active EQ - CWH
Forgot to do an update...

My first white bass ever. Was never keen on white basses, but with the Maple FB and Maple neck and Tort and active electronics I really dig it. Price was right too!
2011 Dean Hillsboro designed by Jonathan Hill.
Arrived end of May 2023

I might have posted this bass before, If so, I feel it's worth posting it again so here you are. What you are seeing is my 1960 fender precision bass. I purchased it in 1973 or 74. It had been refinished in a two color tobacco burst. The neck refretted with huge jumbo frets and a new clear nitro finish applied to the neck, possibly a new decal as well but IDK for sure. The store where I bought it was at the time a Fender dealer/warranty repair center so a factory decal would've been easy for them to obtain.

This was my main and ONLY bass for a decade or so on the road playing clubs, some concerts in just about every state west of the Mississippi and 4 Canadian Provinces. Temps from 115 degrees in AZ to -54 in Canada. Never once let me down. Since this bass got played 6 nights a week, 4 to 5 sets a night, it took a beating. Parts wore out and were replaced off and on. The body was pretty abused so when I came in off the road in 1985, I had a friend refinish it in Oly White nitro. The paint was mixed up from the original formula by a local auto shop's paint department. It's now been 38 years since the body was refinished and it still looks very white. Due to the fact that no clear was sprayed over the white. It was just buffed out. The finish on neck however remains as it was when I bought it. The clear has yellowed to a very beautiful aged amber look and the wear on the back is all from my playing. Just a killer bass and it's never going to be sold by me.

Here's what it looked like shortly after I bought it. I removed the original tort guard because it was in great condition and I wanted to preserve it. I installed an original gold anodized Fender PG and also gold hardware with a Gold BA II and Gold tuners. It was a very striking looking bass and sounded huge.

I think it looks way better white though.

My other white bass is also somewhat rare. USA Reverend Rumblefish in white. Pretty rare as few were made with white/Maple finish. Also has original tuxedo case and reverend factory strap. Very nice sounding and playing bass. The neck with rolled fingerboard edges feels like a well played 62 Jazz bass. Also have a J/J loaded PG for the bass as well. These USA Reverend basses are some of the most underrated basses ever.

My 1981 Yamaha BB3000S.

I've always been a sucker for gold hardware on white basses.

Sweet!! These Yamaha BB models started my love affair with gold on white!! It was also Stings white Spector, Bootsy Star Bass, and Rick James has a white StingRay and that Rickenbacker on the cover of Street Songs.
