Great photo for capturing the sparkle on it. My gilded white has the painted neck too and it's lovely. Now that I see yours I wish my pickup casing came in white as well!

I've never heard a bad sounding Yamaha BB. This a lovely.

I don't know if you knew I had this one. Most of our band gear lives in our singer's rehearsal space so all I ever had to bring was a bass. But I don't have a good place to keep it at work and I didn't want to leave it in the car all day, so I had been going out of my way to go home, get a bass, and then go to rehearsal. So I decided to buy an inexpensive bass that I was completely comfortable leaving at her house.

I've been quite surprised by this one. In spite of being so inexpensive and the pickups being ceramic, it plays well and sounds surprisingly good on our playlist. It's my first PJ config and I like it a lot. I tend to use it kind of like a G&L SB-2 (ooo, I wish they had been available in a five-string!), favoring the P pickup and then using the J pickup like a tone control to add some definition. So I effectively have two different tone controls on it.

I really do need to see what it can do at a gig sometime. It sits in the mix really well at our rehearsals and our keys player and guitar player both like it a lot*.



* ... though neither like it nearly as much as they like my Big Al. That one and my Stingrays all get equal gig time, but they'd both be happier with me playing the Big Al exclusively!

How about one under construction?

How mine is going from an unfinished body to a relic'ed Olympic White P Bass.

Unfinished Warmoth Roasted Alder Body:


Sanding Sealer applied:


White primer dusting for guide coat to check for imperfections and sanded;


Three coats 0f the base original Olympic White appled:


I made cardstock masks for the bridge, ashtray bridge cover and the pickguard and sprayed a moderate coat of Aged Olympic White:


It will be getting some wear marks sanded into the color coats to simulate wear, along with varying layers of aged and regular clear coats.

The neck will be getting the appropriate relicing.

I never played a Reflex (or a 25th Anniversary 5 string) but always loved the aesthetic. But I imagine my Big Al 5SSS, which has the same preamp, can sound similar to an SSH Reflex.


But if a 5 string Reflex were to fall into my lap, I don't think I could pass it up. That's how I got my Big Al .

I saw a white Moon Larry Graham signature jazz bass with some nice wear and tear once in Japan. It was a real beauty. I won't post a pic because I don't own one.
