what is the pickup on the bass for? Not the two standard ones behind the strings, but that other one that sticks out on the body?

Here's my Marcus Miller-Aguilar obp-1 preamp and Nordie split-coil pickups. Really thick passive tone and then a mountain of headroom when you flip the active switch!
