Show your Zoom B2 settings!

Here's an octave patch I'm fond of.

----------------------Knobs
------------Setting---1-----2-----3

Comp---------CP-----2-----3----50
Wah/Efx-------oC---50----1.0.----8
Drive/Synth---TU----oF----10----62
ZNR/mix-------nr-----5---- 50----76
LO EQ---------LE-----3-----4----(-2)
HI EQ---------HE-----0-----3------2
Mod/Sfx-------SC----80----30-----34
Delay----------oF
Reverb---------rN----20-----5-----26

There isn't much reverb, but try it without any reverb as well.

Question: When ever I adjust the overall patch volume and save it ( Control - knob 3), the set is not retained after cycling power. I roll this setting down to 50 for all patches, press store twice, and it's there for all patches. Turn off the power, power back up, and it's back at 80. Anyone else experiencing this ?

I am... :hmm:

Any help?

I believe this was how it was designed based on your response, and the response I received in this thread. :hmm:

All of my settings are currently just handwritten.

At some point I'll throw them in an Excel Spreadsheet and share 'em.

Most of my settings are all based off my stock setting using the Zoom Tube Pre. Currently I'm only using the Pitch to make a nice 8 string sound, the Octaver for a good sub-bass octave sound (because I only play a 4 string, and some songs we do need that low B, so I use that and play higher), and I'm still messing around with the fretless sound, which isn't quite yet where I want it. I'm also working on a wah/envelope sound but it's a ways off from being done. I wish I had more time to develop the sounds I want.

Free time is something I'm lacking, what with two jobs, remodeling my art/music studio, the band and four kids (one being a 19 month old). But I'll post them as soon as I can.

Thanks to all who have shared so far though.

I'll try and post some on the weekend too. I've been using the Pitch for an 8 string sound too - I did a recording last year using my POG and am using the B2 to simulate that tone live (as I don't want the POG bashed round). Not quite as clean as the POG but fine for live work.

I've also got a John Entwhistle type sound that I accidentally found while trying to set up a Chris Squire tone and getting carried away on a tangent :)

Cheers,
Alun

I've had my B2 for about a month I think and I like it more and more all the time. I keep finding new sounds that I like and I'm getting more and more of a handle on how best to tweak it. I don't have my settings written down anywhere but I can share some of my faves. I tend to mix and match a bit with the modules almost like discreet pedals.
Comp. I found this to be one of the harder ones to set to my liking but finally arrived at a couple settings I'm happy with:
For a more natural sound, 1, 10, 70. This is almost transparent but cleans things up a bit.
For a more aggressive or bouncy sound, 2 or 3, 1, 70. This gives me some real bouncy punch like some of Tony Levin's work on Discipline.
I play finger style almost exclusively and find any more than 3 on the sens gives me weird artifacts and pumping.
I use the limiter sometimes to lower the gain on the drive module.

Effects
Trem 34, 34, u5 sounds good with Bassman model
Ar A9, 3, 3
AW A9, 3, 3 or A9, 1, 5, with the Ampeg model
PH AF, 5, 1, or AF, 3, 2, I used to have a Phase 90 which I loved with the speed set all the way down.
CH 0, 1, 50, this is my all time favorite chorus setting, it's almost like a subtle phaser.
EC 37, 34, 40 sort of Floydian

Drive

SS of, 1, 50, mix: 1.0 I'm not completely satisfied with this but there it is.
I've been setting these up mostly as effects with the speaker simulation off. However, I've had very little opportunity to play through my amp so I may need to tweak further when I get there. I play through a Trace Elliot so I don't think I'll have any use for the te or SW models in that context.
I think this pretty much covers most of what I've got so far.

I highly suggest you play with these settings through your live rig. I've set up all kinds of presets, only to find they had to be adjusted quite a bit when using them through my rig. You might also find that some presets are hardly noticeable through your rig when playing live, especially if they are not significantly different than with no effects. Experiment with your live rig. What sounded great by myself, almost got lost onstage and through the PA, without additional tweaking.

Still, once you do get them set through your rig, they work great live!

Thanks fleizenkruz, I was hoping you wouldn't be mad for referencing these.

+1
I tweaked patchs to sound good through my rig, with my amp set flat. Last night I left the amp at home, and went direct to the PA at jam sesson the rehearsal place thant I like to frequent (Link Removed). I had to re-tweak to get my basic sound patch to sound good. I wish the bottom end on the LO EQ was set a little lower, but it worked out. There is some great mid-control with this pedal.

Yes, I ran through my rig today and tweaked most of my settings accordingly. The tube pre became kind of redundant even though I'm playing through a Trace Eliot. Oh, and I narrowed down my compressor settings, now it's 0 or 1, 1 or 10, 50-74 depending on if I have to compensate the volume for the auto wah. Now when I play with a group I'll have to tweak it all over again. : )

I was going direct at the jam crib last night in a smaller room. The PA consisted of a small Mackie board and one powered Samson cabinet on a stand. There was also a Hartke Kickback 15 in the room. I used the post-eq DI to the board, channel set flat, and the 1/4" output to the Hartke, set flat. i let the PA cab carry my sound, and used the Hartke to fill in the sound.

With this crazy setup, I discovered that preset "C9" sounded very good on allot of the finger style songs we were doing. It really shined in the mix.

C9 ("Emulate the midrange-oriented fingering work of artists such as Me'Shell Ndegeocello or Jeff Berlin") is one of the better factory presets...

Another fact. preset that works well for me is C7 ("Simulates the sound of a HARTKE HA3500 with 4.5XL that became the Will Lee trademark.")

+1...

when I try to bring out the "thunder", it tends to get a tad muddy...

I like parametric EQ, but for the Low Eq section, I either shelve it, or use the graphic...then I use the high EQ to throw in the "sparkle"

I recently restrung one of my cheapies to BEAD...i find that what sounds good with the BEAD sounds GREAT with the EADG
