I'm very happy you liked it.

I'm just bumpin' the thread along here...

I apologize for being a lazy cuss and not posting my patches...I should be doing it this weekend...(for now, I'll set up the framework for my post and edit it when I get into my zoom)

First off, let me say that I have set these patches to compliment my Yamaha RBX170 P/J...
I've got 3 bass patches that I use predominantly....for bass, I'm more after the "tone" than any other type of effects...I do use a smidge of chorus and 'verb here and there to fatten a sound up, but not so much for effect.

On the first one, I was after a 'stingray like vibe...scooped tone with cutting highs and thumpin' lows..
(I'll edit the patch info here)

On the next one, I was after an active Jazz Bass like vibe with a nice mid-range presence...
(I'll edit the patch info here)

On the third one, I was after a big bottom end type tone.
(I'll edit the patch info here)

I also have a bank of patches that I use to run my Yamaha Pacifica 112 guitar into...(yes, it doesn't do half bad at that):

My favorite two patches here are a bluesy crunch
(I'll edit the patch info here)

and a chimey, chorusy "wash" that sounds great when I play fingerstyle.
(I'll edit the patch info here)

here's my favorite "clean" setting for the guitar
(I'll edit the patch info here)

In addition, I've been trying to get a good distortiony bass tone (without a lot of success)..I'm trying to make it edgy, but not overly fuzzy...I could use some suggestions here...

Well, as promised, I'm posting some of my favourite settings:

First, I use this to get a "stingray" like tone from my RBX170...works best for me when I throw the pickups in series...

----------------------Knobs
------------Setting---1-----2-----3
Comp---------LM-----5-----7----78
Wah/Efx-------oF
Drive/Synth---HA-----2-----8----70
ZNR/mix-------nr-----1-----74---66
LO EQ---------LP---SH----50---6
HI EQ---------HP----SH----2.4--6
Mod/Sfx-------CH----10----10---34
Delay----------oF
Reverb--------rN-----8-----10----24

Next, is a mid-rangy, active Jazz bass sound...works best with the pickups in parallel and the J-pickup dialed full on (P-pickup can be anywhere)...

----------------------Knobs
------------Setting---1-----2-----3
Comp---------CP-----3-----8----64
Wah/Efx-------oF
Drive/Synth---AG-----2-----6----78
ZNR/mix-------nr-----3-----60---70
LO EQ---------LP---3----25----6
HI EQ---------HE----4----9----10
Mod/Sfx-------oF
Delay----------oF
Reverb--------HL-----8-----10----16

Next up, a sound I like to use to get a fat-bottom from my bass, works well with the P-pickup and some tone dialed off, or with the pickups in series...

----------------------Knobs
------------Setting---1-----2-----3
Comp---------LM-----6-----7----78
Wah/Efx-------oF
Drive/Synth---HA-----3-----10----70
ZNR/mix-------nr-----1-----70---70
LO EQ---------LE---12-----0---(-4)
HI EQ---------HE----(-8)---(-2)--6
Mod/Sfx-------CH----10----10---34
Delay----------oF
Reverb--------rN-----8-----10----24

OK...for those who like to use their B2.1u for guitar, too...I do, because I don't have anything else :)...I use the following patches with my SSH Yamaha Pacifica 112 (btw...if you want a very cool inexpensive electric guitar, you MUST check these out)...

First off, a bluesy distortion....power chords and blues triads sound good with this...

----------------------Knobs
------------Setting---1-----2-----3
Comp---------LM-----4-----7----74
Wah/Efx-------oF
Drive/Synth---tS-----3-----7----54
ZNR/mix-------nr-----1----80---58
LO EQ---------LE----2----2---(-2)
HI EQ---------HE-----0----4----6
Mod/Sfx-------oF
Delay----------oF
Reverb--------rN-----10-----8----68

Next, a chorusy "wash" sound...makes for some nice lead lines...

----------------------Knobs
------------Setting---1-----2-----3
Comp---------CP-----3-----4---84
Wah/Efx-------oF
Drive/Synth---tU-----1-----9----56
ZNR/mix-------nr-----1----1.0--50
LO EQ---------LE----4---(-2)--(-2)
HI EQ---------HE-----0----0----1
Mod/Sfx-------sC-----80---31---60
Delay----------dL-----35---10---16
Reverb--------HL-----12----7----60

Here's what I use for a clean tone...

----------------------Knobs
------------Setting---1-----2-----3
Comp---------oF
Wah/Efx-------oF
Drive/Synth---tU-----1-----9----56
ZNR/mix-------nr-----1----1.0--50
LO EQ---------LE----3----2----3
HI EQ---------HE-----0----4----4
Mod/Sfx-------oF
Delay----------oF
Reverb--------SP-----10----4----60

Finally...I'm still struggling to get a good bass distortion, where the bass doesn't get lost...

this is what I've come up with so far...if anyone would like to try this and improve on it...please give me some feedback

----------------------Knobs
------------Setting---1-----2-----3
Comp---------CP-----4----7----74
Wah/Efx-------oF
Drive/Synth---tS-----2-----8----72
ZNR/mix-------nr-----1----38---84
LO EQ---------LP----2----10---6
HI EQ---------HE-----2----4----5
Mod/Sfx-------oF
Delay----------oF
Reverb--------oF
Pedal.....bL MU (controls the amount of distortion)

bumpity bump....

please, I've gone through the effort of contributing...

have a test drive of my contributions and a little critique...

I worked really hard typing that stuff in....;)

I just picked one of these up, and I'm still fiddilin' with it...

I have a question for you guys who use it often...

Is there anyway to get the underlying "hiss" out that is made on some patches? I haven't figured out what causes it... But, when I pluck a string (usually when there's some distortion or something), I can hear a hissing sound sort of in the background. Everything's quiet when there's no string vibration, but once the string is in motion, there's a hiss.

Doesn't happen on all patches... so I figure there must be some way to dial it out.

i'm not quite sure what you're talking about perhaps, if you tell me which patches, in particular, you are experiencing this with, and I can then have a play and see for myself.
Because, any "hiss" itsself is not inherent to the unit as zoom's are amazingly quiet. the culprit is most-likely the result of an effect or a remnant of an effect.

My house has some noise somehow in the electric system at times. It's not necessarily hum but sometimes more like hiss. Some patches exhibit this more than others, namely compression and chorus. But usually the B2 is totally quiet.

I've found the compressor is one of the noiser things to have in a chain... it amplifies the small signals and squeezes the large signals... that's how it gets sustain, it's only upping the gain as the input signal gets smaller until the input gets below a cutoff when it chops the gain...

I've changed the compressor to limiter in of all the user patches on mine that used it... I've never really liked compressors anyway, but that might just be me, YMMV and all that...

I set my compressor really light, sens 1, attack 1, level 66-74. I don't really use it in conjunction with any amount of overdrive, sometimes with the tube pre or the Bassman set clean. Also I found the SWR model can be noisy. I don't use the clean solid state models much.

my experience with power...

tried a "generic" DC power supply...was so noisy, I couldn't use it...I resorted to sticking to batteries and recharging alkalines (don't ask ;) )

on battery, the unit is a virtual churchmouse....on the generic power supply-hiss goes the snake...on a genuine zoom power supply-welcome back, churchmouse.

Hey! Has anyone tried my patches, yet? (post #45) come on, let's get going! :hyper:

The "mid-rangy active Jazz" setting is just so versatile, IMO...and the "stingray-esque" can really produce a nice agressive slap tone. (come on guys, I'm really lookin' for some feedback, and suggestions)

I haven't tried your patches yet but I have tried some others posted somewhere in the forum.
Comp on 1-2-80 and good EQing were key to getting very useable amp sims.
Ofcourse the B2 will sound different through different rigs, probably be a good idea to specify what your own setup is.
For me playing through the really clean preamp in my SWR head worked well in hearing the amp sims.
Er.......:)
I'm diggin' the auto wah on the B2.:hyper:

I agree about the subtle compression and good EQ for the amp sims...

My sounds are built primarily for a "flat-ish"-response FOH system at church (I run DI to the F.O.H.)...for my fallback, I use a Laney HC60 combo amp...I have it set pretty flat, with a little extra treble to help me keep that finger noise in check...(basically try to mimick the sound in the F.O.H.)...

I think the auto-wah is a good-un...but I don't have a lot of use for it, really...I may try and mess up a guitar setting with it, though :)

have all the zoomers lost interest?

BUMP-A-RONI

no, we're too busy having fun... :)

You know what would have been a killer feature for the Zoom? a utility to save and load patches to/from your computer... and for them to have a user submitted patches forum on their website...

an offline editor would have been nice as well so you could assemble the patches you want into the right banks and order for different set lists.

I think they missed an angle there...

ohhh...don't you know it...something like that would be great...there are a couple of products on the market that do this, but not the zoom B2 :( I think the higher end zoom guitar unit the zoom G9.something or other has this feature...

it's not too hard on the unit to arrange patches...but you must be careful and methodical about it, or it's "sianara patchee" ;)
