Showing Off. Why Can't Bassists Do It??

I can only speak for myself but I generally just try to nail the song when playing covers. I usually had a hand in picking the songs so they usually have some cool base lines and I like playing them.

When playing original stuff I usually wrote or helped write it and honestly my own stuff is usually less busy then a lot of the covers we play. No real base solo parts but often the songs are started or ended by cool some bass. I like real rhythmic stuff that is almost trance like for my own stuff and deviating too much from the "path" doesn't really serve the music very well.

As a fan I like to see a bassist tear it up. Freakin love it!
