Shure Beta58a / Beta57a

I posted in another thread this same question, but now im curious and really want a specific answer..

What are peoples thoughts on the Shure Beta58a or Beta 57a for bass? if the frequency response graphs (provided by Shure) are accurate, i would think they sound closer to a Beyer M88 than to the SM57/SM58?

Experiences??

i dont know how much i trust Shure's graphs, they show the SM57 and SM58 as having different low end response, but i always thought they were the same inside?

AGK make what I think is the( best) bass cab mike at (reasonable price )useing one for years 57s 58s not what you want .Get a mike that is made for mikeing bass and or kicks

thanks, but thats not really what i asked.. i would probably use an M88 or SM7 or Heil PR30

I prefer a beta 58a to an sm58 on vocals, I haven't had much experience of the beta 57a. As far as bass cabs are concerned, I love the sound of a 57 or 58; beta or no.

I used a Beta58 on my cab at church tonight, without a di. i loved the sound i was getting through my IEMs (westone um32's.) and the sound man loved it as well. so im a happy man.

The Beta57 is a good all around mike for instruments. Not fantastic, but very usable, and does the job just fine. The Beta58 is more of a vocal mike. My choice of mikes for bass is the Sennheiser 421.

Not a big fan of the more common Betas (I've not tried the less common).

The 421 is nice, but not enough nicer than the D4 and others to justify the price (plus the cost of repair is very high).
