Just wanted to give a little cool gadget alert. Got some great advicer on here, and picked up the Shure MV88 mic. I works with your iphone/ipad. App has an onboard EQ, and input gain.
I just did a really fast recording with it. Had my son on drums, me on bass. My sons snare drum can make your ear bleed its that loud. This was set up 8' away, and handled the drums like a champ. check it out if ya want.
