Also debating something like an AccuGroove as I love the sound of my bass in a PA. Maybe a "flat, full range" cab is another way to go.

I think ANYTHING will sound better to you than that little Shuttle 112 cab, which is nice for a little tiny cab, but still more of a practice amp thing.
The bad news is, you will KILL yourself for selling all those wonderful basses, assuming that was the issue and not your rig
If you can't get a decent tone out of the Shuttle Max (very impressive amp) and a cab that is large enough to actually replicate the tone of the instrument, you should stop playing IMO and sell shoes.
The Max 12 and two NeoX112's will make you giddy IMO (as long as you like it 'bright and tight').

Use 1 for jazz and church, use 2 for rock and horn band.
Yeah, I think it is the cab. It's nice, but just not enough for more than a small jazz gig at best.
I don't know if I will kill myself on the bass end. I did play them all at venues and through other systems so I think I knew how they sounded and I think I am just wanting something a little different than what the Sadowsky's gave me. No doubt they are GREAT basses and no slam on them at all. But there are many people who don't play them so I don't feel too bad.
I have been doing a lot of EQ'ing and learning with the Max head and even with the limitations of the Shuttle 12 cab it does sound better. I have come to the conclusion that I need a different cab(s). I need to have something bigger. I just have to get over my ultra-light, ultra-small thing and be happy I have that with my Max 12 head and don't need to haul around an 80 pound rack case full of suff.
After hearing fellow TB'er Ryan play through the Uber 410 (4 ohm so it would take more advantage of the Max 12) a couple weeks ago, and remembering how GREAT that cab sounds, I have even thought of going that route. If I were to take two Neox 112's to gigs, it isn't that much more (about the same total weight wise) to take the 410. Of course the 410 is a bit much for a couple venues around here, but it's no more overkill than the Max 12 head int a single 112 cab. Two 112 cabs are easier to move than a single 410 regardless of weight.
I do like bright and tight - especially tight.
Either way, I want to stick with GB as I have been VERY happy with them in the past and present, and if I can't get a good sound with their gear, I should sell shoes.![]()
I was just kind of kidding you on the bass thing. But man, you have an amazing amp there, and a very, very mediocre cab (actualy a very nice but way too small cab for most gigging situations). I'd take the plunge on the NeoX112 and be happy. You can add a second for the big wump if you ever need it.
Going from that tiny little Shuttle 112 all the way to a huge 410 and full size 212 seems a bit silly, since the Shuttle 112 was 'almost enough'. You just need a full size 112 (with the option for a second) to be able to reproduce reall bass and a full even sound IMO!
Another suggestion... how about a second Shuttle 112 cabinet. That would give you the scalability of 2 compact cabinets with significant LF extension due to coupling and more power. You would be able to play small gigs and practice with 1 cabinet but have the second to do the bigger shows.
You could do the same with a NeoX 112 and a Shuttle 112 also.
This is true. Maybe I'll hold off trading the Shuttle 112 until I can do some experimenting with both...
Steve,
My problem (and maybe yours) is that we're lucky enough to have so many good choices! As I mentioned above, I normally use the SM 12.0 with two NeoX112s, and that rig is loud, clear, and punchy. I also have the Shuttle 6.0-12T, and you know the Shuttle combos are an easy haul and sound good. The Shuttle 6.0-12T also works very well with a NeoX112 as an extension speaker. I've debated getting a second 12T cabinet, but that's probably redundant with the NeoX112.
Anyway, stick with the GB stuff, try the NeoX112, and you'll sound great (IMO of course)!
Bob

That damn Uber 410 still has me wanting it, even after a few weeks have gone by, and I've played through my Aguilar rig at a few rehearsals since then.
I'm pretty well convinced that I'm probably going with a Genz setup now (which reminds me, I need to change my classifieds listing.....). That 9.0/Uber 410 rig kicked butt, IMO, but I still need to try out a Max 12 before making a decision. I'd also like to get a chance to try some of the NeoX cabs as well, too.
I still can't wrap my head around the concept of getting all that sound out of such a tiny package......![]()
I'm thinking about an Uber 410 myself to mate with my 9.0. The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is not sure if an XB3 or Epifani PS would suit me better since I mostly play classic rock stuff these days.
...
as for 'overpowering'... I guarantee the best sounding rig I've played in years is a GBE1200 through a 112 neox cab!!~! Just let your ears be your gauge.
