Shuttle vs GBE750 - soundwise?

I am just wondering if there is anyone who have compared these two Genz Benz amps? I know the weightdifference and the different EQ knobs but how is the sound comparing the Shuttle 6.0 to the GBE750 tube channel with the diffent poweramps. There are no 750s in my area so I can't compare for myself.

Right now I have a Shuttle 6.0 but I need something that will handle two 4ohm-cabs. I will get a GBE750 or wait for the "hopefully coming soon" Shuttle Max 12.0:D

On a recent tour I did, I used a GBE1200 with two NEOX212Ts and that sounded fantastic!!! Even a little better than my Shuttle and one NEOX212T. I don't know if it was the amp itself or just the extra cabinet that did it...

A couple of things. We don't launch product until it can ship. So, don't worry about "hopefully" coming soon.

Secondly- The human ear perceives louder as sounding "better".....to an extent. Having said that, with everything set "flat", I think the GBE750 has some more clarity to it in the FET channel.

Lastly, to confuse things, one reason we came out with the ShuttleMAX and decided to go with Shuttle 6.0 type pre vs. the GBE pre is that many, many have stated a preference for the Shuttle pre.

I hope this helps.

I have not played through a GBE-750, but I own the Shuttle 6.0 and the GBE-1200 and to my ear the Shuttle sounds a little bit darker to me than the 1200 - to my ear, I very slightly prefer the sound of the 1200. While the parametric mid control is great, I have never been in a situation where the EQ contorls of the 1200 were inadequate. I absolutely love mine paired with my 2 NEOX-212T cabs... my guitarist hates it :)

If I were in your shoes, I would personally pick up a 1200 over a 750. I aways prefer having extra power, as I tend to dig in pretty good when I play, and it is well-suited to running 2 4-ohm cabs. Also, I use mine all the time with 1 NEOX-212T cab and it sounds great - flipping the Powerflex switch to 2-ohm mode puts out ~ 750W into a 4-ohm load, but even without doing that being sensible with the volume with whatever 4-ohm cab you are running will keep you in the green.

Thank you hasbeen for your fast answer! You can always count on the GB staff.:)
Would you say it is a difference, soundwise, in the tube channel of the 750 compared to the Shuttle (tube) when all is set flat?
Do you know when the release date is set for the ShuttleMAX?

KNP above your last post, actually gave a good description.....I agree with him...tube channel vs. tube channel, the Shuttle is a bit darker....or at least, colored.

The official launch on the ShuttleMAX will be Winter NAMM.

BTW, the ShuttleMAX has quite a bit bigger, sonic footprint than the Shuttle.

i used to own the 750 now i have the shuttle 6.0. I agree the shuttle is a little darker but not too much.

the 750 is an awesome amp, no doubt. but I do a lot of shows with no road crew and as i get older, i like the ease of transport of the shuttle and NEOX cabinets. For me, that was the major deciding factor. But I do love the sound i get from my shuttle as well.

You can't go wrong either way!

Couple of questions on the 750:

- Is the 750 noticably louder than the shuttle 6.0?

- Is the 750 preamp that same preamp that is in the Neo-Pak?

- Does the fact that the 750 has the fan on the side affect putting it in a rack at all? How does it stay cool with the fan on the side?

Cheers!

Louder yes....."noticably"? Well, that is kind of subjective.

The 750 is a different pre...in fact, it is two pres. The 6.0 and Neo-Pak are the same pres.

750 in a rack? It is designed to be rack mounted.....just allow for an inch clearance on the sides and don't use a rack "bag". ....the lining can get sucked into the fan.

That's interesting, because I consider the shuttle to already be a fairly bright amp as it is.

Genz, any thoughts on offering the shuttle/neo-pak pre as a DI stomp box with a tube? That would totally be the mutt's nuts and would give Sansamp a serious run for the money.

I'd buy one and use it in the studio - for FOH only gigs --- and.... as a pre to my LM2 :hiding:

we get asked this quite a bit- We are a very small company and with that, we need to focus our resources (manpower, intellectual and financial) on our core business.

I'm good friends with Dave Boonshoft at Aggie and Dale at Tech21. They make great pre/D.I's and I often refer people there when they ask for a pedal.

BTW, the new Tone Hammer from Aguilar kills.
