i play a YAMAHA TRBJP. i like the way it sounds specially on the higher notes. does great during recordings as well. oh, and i'm used to really wide spaced basses (i play classical double bass too).

Got my Steve Vai Jem because I loved the Floral Print.

My Melissa Etheridge Adamas was priced right and I loved the color.

Stu Hamm bass I bought because I wanted to try the medium scale Jazz with 24 frets; not a lot of other stock basses available that way, and I got a good deal on it.

Still, there's models I would avoid because of their artist affiliation.
Ibanez Fieldy bass comes to mind, but I wouldn't mind a George Benson or the Geddy Lee I saw for sale here today.

My dad has a GB200 ( george benson model) very very nice guitar for jazz etc. Not sure if its worth the high price tag. Admitadly alot of its value goes into materials, Ivory binding, ebony etc.

the two I'd be interested in trying are the Fender Roscoe Beck and the Lakland Darrel Jones. I've heard great things about both of these basses.

I love it when people bump up threads that are this old and I get to see what I posted 3 1/2 years ago... It's fun to see if I feel the same. On this one, I sure don't! At that time I had low level GAS for a Flea Bass... Now I would never buy a Flea Bass (WAY to much money and I prefer wood over composite materials) ...just to add to the irony, my main bass is a Geddy Lee sig.

Yes, I would own and play a signature bass. Hey, I do! I need to change how I voted in that poll...
