Recently a long time signature that I had was modified by a moderator and I received no message indicating that the action occurred I just noticed that it was changed. The signature had two links, the CUP indicates that you can have one that points to your website. The UI doesn't allow one to add a tag. How do get a link in my signature?

--Commercial users may include a single link to their business in their signature. If the business is a storefront, a Supporting Membership is required post the single link. This link must be non-formatted (not bold, colored, or enlarged). Sales information, product advertisments, pricing information, or other 'sales pitch' is not allowed in signatures.

By definition a link is clickable because link is shorthand for hyperlink. A web address on the other hand is not a link.

Also, who edited my profile and why?

Phil,
bbcode, which includes URL tags, is only available in sigs to supporting members. As a non-supporting member, you are free to put a web address in your sig - it just won't be clickable.

Your profile was edited round September 9th 2011, it was noticed that you still had bbcode in your sig but your membership had lapsed. It's a standard and routine task to audit sigs of lapsed members and remove bbcode. It is irrelevant which moderator performed the edit.

It depends on the edit. Typically, yes, they will be informed. If the profile is being edited due to rule breaking text - offensive language, racism etc, then there will usually also be rule reminders / infractions depending on severity and whether it's a repeat occurrence or not.

But when bbcode, which is a benefit of supporting membership, is being removed due to lapse of supporting membership then there is usually no notification - members receive emails prior to expiration letting them know their benefits are about to expire.

A couple of points:

First, this was not a result of a lapse of a supporting membership, the sig I was using had been there well before there was rule that bbcode was not allowed for non supporting memberships. I know you're trying to make sense of what happened so I'm filling in the blanks for you.

Second, the sig was edited to remove one of the links because there was two and so what I'm trying to find out is why was one removed and the other not. This is why it matters who made the edit because only they would be able to provide this information. Does this make sense to you?

Lastly, my question about the CUP allowing 1 link which seemed to be consistent with what the moderator did, but, you seem to be saying something else i.e. that you can't have a link i.e. different from a web address because a link by definition is something that can be clicked. If you don't mean this in the CUP, then you should change that to reflect what the reality is.
