Silk colors

Here's one I haven't been able to figure out (not that I know all that much!). Red silks at both ends, gold ball-ends, with--and this is the part that's mysterious--what sure looks like a round gold or brass core. I'd have thought TIs or Rotos if not for that. They came on a rad used bass I just got, and they have a nice growl, though otherwise pretty mellow. Feel pretty low-tension, too. Images attached, any insights appreciated!

Yes, they do look to me like TI Jazz Flats. And your description matches them as well.

Check these weirdos out! On a used Spector I just snagged, alternating black/green silks that run through the length of the (tapewound-feeling) string to the ball end. Can't say I've seen that before, but must be pretty identifiable if you have. IMG_20250531_030049745.jpg

Those were a special run by La Bella. Can't remember the special name for them, though.

Here's one that I think should be easy, but I've had some difficulty. Purple (pure dark purple/not blueish purple) silk on both ends and gold/brass ball ends. Strings are flats. Also, the winding does not actually meet the low E tuning peg, as I believe they do for GHS Precision Flats. Are these older Cobalts before they changed the color of the silk, or am I confusing that with something else I vaguely remember reading ages ago on a silk/flats thread?

Ty for the pics. I recently got a '12 Jazz with these strings but until I read this thread, I didn't know what they were.

I originally thought there weren't any silks at the ball end but as my Jazz is strung through the body, I really couldn't see closer to the very end without a very good look. I just got a flashlight and shone it down the G string hole and lo & behold, a blue silk!

I usually don't use D'Addarios but these ones are really quite nice so I'm keeping them on.

It's probably a good thing you didn't get them. I would never buy strings bundled up like that in the pic from a retailer who can't even tell you exactly what make and model of strings they are.
Just curious if I'm doing something I shouldn't be. How do you store/bundle your strings when you aren't using them?

I store them on the guitar, installed.
