Silver Sparkle Bass VI

I ended up picking up one these Silver Sparkle VIs today. Trying to figure out how to play this thing!

I have a set of La Bella flats on the way. I'll post a pic when I have the strings changed and oil the fretboard.
Nice. Try it strung as a baritone either A or B standard for something different. You need a different set of strings but it puts you in a whole different tonal orbit that's a lot of fun.

Couple pictures of my Silver Sparkle VI. I removed the strings to take a look at the tremelo mechanism. Decided to remove what I was able to and lock the bridge. I really like this bass but struggling with the narrow spacing. I'm thinking about making some new saddles to spread them out an extra mm or so.

This laurel fingerboard is very porous. Doesn't bother me but might bug some people. It looked smooth but after cleaning with F One oil I found the holes were just full of sawdust. The oil did help darken up the wood a little which I think looks better.

I like tort generally but I think with this flashy paint job a parchment, white or mint pickguard might look a little better.
