depends on if you want digital or analog. i used a dd-7 with a cheap external tap tempo switch i found on ebay and I was satisfied.

Dude, TC Electronics Nova Repeater. I've been where you are a year ago and this is one of the best delays out there in terms of simplicity, tone and usability. Very easy to set up on the fly, great tap tempo switch and awesome tones. Also, no noise when daisy chained. Just set it on digital mode (studio mode), turn off modulation and you've got a perfect clean no frills delay.

I'm afraid I'll have to quit coming to talkbass--it'll be too expensive not to! I don't even like pedals much and there's 4 or 5 of them I want to get.

Of course if anyone feels poorly about inducing this sad state of affairs and would like to assuage their guilt I'm more that willing to allow you to bankroll this oncoming habit.

Please, no stampedes and keep the lines orderly.
