Simplest pleasures

Sacramento summer mornings. It's going to be around 90 today, but at 7:00am it was a mere 53 degrees. Windows open, basking in the Delta breeze! Even on the 105+ days, the early mornings are nice.

Taking my great-niece to the park (or anywhere for that matter).

Driving with the windows down.

Autumn. A cool, crisp fall day even makes raking leaves a pleasure!

I like doing odd jobs around the house and taking the occasional break, but yesterday I went for a hike with my wife and youngest daughter at about 10,000 feet in Colorado. Saw one moose and lots of alpine meadow close enough to the tree line to see where the trees ended. My feet weren't happy by the time we finished (they're not very good any more) but it was a nice way to spend a few hours with them. When your kids get to 26+ years and are living on their own, a chance to spend a few hours with them becomes one of MY favorite simple things.

yesterday i pulled off something that i almost never can
i went back to bed in the middle of the day & slept until 15:30, just in time for Laverne & Shirley
unfortunately that screwed up my internal clock & i haven't slept since
my simple pleasure today was working on my Ibanez shredder's guitar

Got a day off too. Relaxed with my wife in the morning and just finished working on my 50's Precision.
Filed the nut slot for the D String so it doesn't stick any more. I also replaced the Pots with CTS pots, the jack with a Switchcraft and put in a 100uf Orange drop. I like working on projects like this in the quiet of my workspace.
The bass sounds great now. I don't know what did it but something really bought the tone out. Maybe it was changing the (capacitance? resistance?) how ever you say it I put a different size capacitor on the volume pot. I had been having problems with pots too. Do they use cheaper parts in Mexico.
Been rocking my bass since then.

why would you have a capacitor on the volume pot?
those are normally on the treble or bass cut pots

my MIM bass had Korean pots in it

Just yesterday, I got to take a drive about an hour each way alone. It was a beautiful day cruising along, enjoying the drive over the mountains, drinking a milkshake, and listening to tunes on the radio. That sure was nice to do.

I am so busy all the time, I don't get many days to just take it easy. My band had 3 gigs in 36 hours over the weekend and we had to set up and tear down a P.A. for each gig too. The plus side was that we were the headliner for a huge festival on Sunday evening for several thousand people.
