Singing over complicated basslines

This one comes to mind also .... between the bassline, and the piano riff timing, I have no idea how Sting can sing a completely different melody line over all of it. This one is also very impressive.

This is the big error of thinking about singing and playing.......that the parts are separate. It’s a piece of music where all parts make the performance......so never perform thinking of any two pieces as fighting each other or contrasting. It’s one musical expression like the processes of your body that keep you alive but never compete. A KEY to singing and playing.
