Single Number 2. -looking for feedback on playing and tone

Still working on the transition from guitarist to bassist. Worked hard on the bass line but I know it’s not perfect. I preferred a cleaner bass tone but the engineer kept adding a little grit and I finally gave in. So, tell me what I should do differently next time.

Why are you hedging? That's a really good song and you sound great. In fact, I would say your part is what keeps it from being run-of-mill.

Just my opinion, but step WAY back and allow yourself to enjoy what you did. It's really good.

Also, practically speaking, you could have added 5x the grit and most of it would have been sucked up by the guitar. You'd be shocked how hard you can go with it on a soloed track, only to hear it vanish in the mix. Long way to say, it may sound super gritty to you because your sensitized to it, but it really isn't. Again, it sounds really good.
