Single Pedals or Multi?

go with singles...i made the mistake of buying a mutli thinking "oh man, more effects for less? how can i lose???"

....oh you can lose alright lol

Most have mediocre renditions of the pedals, but they dont mix well and color your sound WAY too much. Plus there are no ANALOG multi-effects so if you want warm tone then count them out (my case).

Some are neat if you are going for a certain sound. There is a pitch shift and delay combo setting i have on my GT-6B that is pretty sweet (a toolish type sound) but the distortion is just sickly bad and so is the fuzz. My DS-1 (which is emulated on the GT-6b) sounds FAR better than my DS-1 effect on the GT-6b. I paid about $35 for that pedal as well and it totally outperforms a $400 multi-effects system emulation.

Modeling/Emulation are things to stay faaarrr away from. And IMO, Victor Wooten has atrociously artificial tone =(

+1 for those modelling units. I prefer multifx like Magicstomp as it is not designed as modeller so it has it's own sounds.

To make things worst, most multifx suffer from poor bypass. But this won't be a problem if you always turned it on.

Ibanez/Maxon made some analog mutifx back in 80/90.

Hey AELfes.... I notice your in Lismore. I just bought a house in Lismore!
We should meet up if your interested.

I personally prefer singles as you get to choose the exact sound your after and personally I find them easier to deal with than a multi. I have owned a couple of multis (zoom and Digitech) and they just don't really do it for me. Its a bit of a 'Jack of all trades, master of none' type thing IMO.

If you want to get together, I have all sorts of goodies you could check out :)

Hey all, thanks for the the input

Sorry about the copying of multiple (no pun intended) threads already active (newbie-ish mistake)

After considering it, I've chosen the single pedal route, only because the multi's ive looked at are very sterile (not a whole bunch of tweeking allowed)

Thanks all, and sorry again

Sounds like a good idea. Always a good idea to meet a bass player who's "in the know"
