That finish is usually not really my style, but I fell in love when I saw it. Pics don't really do it justice. It's even better in person.

Well I'm shocked and disappointed, and by his response so is my distributor. I also expected this bass would live up to the quality of the bass I'd previously purchased, as I told him.
So I finished setting up all my bass guitars with my new MusicNomad kit (thanks Mr_McBride). Here's the report on the Sires:
The M5 needed the nut slot lowered on the E and A, but the B, D, and G were spot on.
I had the relief on the money already. I lowered a few saddles and got it to 1.75 on the G and 2.25 on the B. Very respectable. As I said before, I pluck hard and slap like Louis Johnson. I don't put up with fret buzz.
The P7 was perfect. I did not have to touch it. It is set between 1.5 for the G and 2 for B. This bass had the best quality from the factory of any bass I have ever played or owned. As I mentioned, I swapped out the tuners for Hipshot Lollipops; but there is nothing else I would change.
On a side note, the two basses I own with neck-through-body construction set up the best. The action on both is below what the string gauge says is even recommended. I don't know if this holds true for all bass guitars of similar construction, but the geek in me required making this knowledge public.
I strongly recommend investing in the kit and files if you are the type of player that sets up your own bass guitars. The nut settings are critical for proper intonation in the lower frets.

Let me guess, you're past the age of humor. May want to look the other way. I was planning to be a stand up comedian, but I was afraid people would laugh at me!
I found a simple solution to filling those screw holes after changing your tuners. I picked it up Home Depot. They have lots of colors. Just used a flat end screwdriver as a trowel. Took almost no time at all.
Sign me up for the new Z7, musicman style HS bass. I wonder if the H can cop the musicman sound though, that's the question.
It's got the bridge pickup in the right location which is half the battle. After that it's just down to personal flavor.
Part of the StingRay sound is the preamp, and the Sire preamp doesn't have that sound, so it won't be exactly the same. But yes, with the big humbucker in the right spot, it should be at least similar.
^^^ This, but even if it doesn't sound like a StingRay, that massive pickup should bring the goods.
First gig with the new p5r.

Of all of the preamp pedals I have, I found that I preferred the direct tone of the p5r, so my preamps (Tone Hammer DI & SushiBox Elementary tube preamp) were by-passed. The only pedal I used was an Empress compressor.
