Sire Bass Club!

hey you lovely bunch of sire players,

I wanted to present you with this little beauty I found and bought used just yesterday.
Found her on the local equivalent of craigslist I guess for roughly 300 bucks so I pulled the trigger and bought that bass. After a good good clean and set up I start to like that bass, it will take a second to get used to it because its my first 5 string. The condition seems to be quite ok, some minor dents and scratches but those seems to be all cosmetic...
Anyway, just wanted to share that, any thoughts are absolutely welcome.

not as beautiful as those new ones with roasted necks but I hope it will be a sturdy workhorse and considering the price I think and hope that´s quite ok. Or maybe I just try to justify the purchase

Fantastic! Had I found this for 3 hundred it would be in my collection even though I don't need another bass. Great find.

Hope you like it. The one I got looked quality but needed a teensy amount of trimming at the control plate.

My replacement pickguard arrived yesterday afternoon, and it looks like I'll need to trim a little bit around the control plate as well. The combo looks great though, here's a pic with the new pickguard set on top of the old one just so I could see what it looked like:

Yesterday I picked this what looks like a Gen 1 V7 lefty 5-string barely used for $600 CDN. I just joined a new project and this will be my backup bass to a Schechter Stiletto Studio 5.

How did I do? I just recently got into the Sire brand through my bassist in another band.

Already adjusted neck bow, action and intonation. Need to soften the fret edges as there is minor sprout.

Nice grab! Once you have it sorted, I'd be curious your opinion compared to the Schecter. I've got a Studio 4 and Sire V7 and love them both - Curious what you like/don't like about either/both.

Just the little I played with it last night after the neck adjustment, the V7 has a flatter and slightly wider neck. Not much but noticeable in the hands.

Preamp and pickups sound great, I find I need to bump bass, treble and mids up about 50% to match the output of my Schechter. I possibly need to change batteries.

So far very, very impressed. Different, but feels sexy to play.

You did great - ash body! As someone mentioned, you may find your ranking changing after playing the Sire for a bit...

I Picked up this M2 today. Love the colour, and I need to get to grips with the Pre-amp but so far really enjoying it. As someone who hasn't been playing long, it feels a lot different to my heavy Jazz I own. I'm going to do the coil select mod and maybe move the active/passive switch to a push pull on the bass pot.

Hi Y'all...do y'all know if the stock v7 5 string Gen 1 bridges are same dimensions as the Gen 2 bridges?

I bought this bridge when I had my gen 1 v7 5 string but I never used it, cause I sold the bass.

I'm planning to sell it on reverb, but wanna know if it will fit the gen 2 as well. Thanks

I have the same bass, but mine has an extra string.

It was my first Sire bass.

I love the neck and playability of the M series.

The Albridge is the only one I know of that drops in AND retains the string-through-body option.

I know someone on here a few hundred pages ago found and installed one whose screw holes lined up exactly with the Sire through-body holes, and used some specialty (marine window IIRC?) nut/bolt pairs to attach it. No new holes drilled, but lost the through-body option.

@tbass9 - can you check with Albridge? They might be able to answer that. I have only purchased 4 string bridges from them.

Oh that is nice, you got a great deal, congrats!
Really important with 5-strings: keep your right thumb on the low B unless you're playing it! It'll resonate like crazy, especially in active basses that have tons of sustain like Sires. You'll need to get good at muting the low E & B when you're not using them.
Just listen closely to your playing & practice it that way from the beginning. You'll get used to it pretty quickly.
