That's true, I've noticed the "down position" is much louder than single coil and paralell (I believe?). I'll have to try to compare recordings under similar conditions as well.

No matter which pickup selection is used the overall volume between the 2 basses with the eq set flat should be about the same.
Normally a humbucker set series will be 3dB louder than parallel, and parallel will have a different EQ to single. So unless the switching also changes preamp gain and voicing I'd be very surprised if pickup selection did not affect loudness.
That's true. I wasn't thinking of that, but I think the OP said that the M7 was not as loud as the V7.

Mine took about 20 days from the order to delivery. Long 20 days. In terms of the tracking number, I was able to track via USPS using the international shipment number that was provided on the DHL website. The tracking status didn't really change much until the day of delivery. hope you get your instrument soon.
Thomann finally responded with a different USPS tracking number that has tracking info all the way back to Germany. My bass just cleared customs in Miami this morning. If they offered this tracking number from the beginning, they wouldn't be bombarded with emails that they don't respond to. The new tracking number is a USPS specific number, totally different than the DHL tracking number. The way they're doing it is confusing then factor in the fact that they don't respond to emails, it's beyond aggravating.
Still better than waiting 2+ months like I am for the new P7.
Replaced the bridge with a Fender HMV bridge, liking that much better than the flimsy vintage-style bridge that came on it. Now to get the frets leveled because this thing buzzes pretty severely.
Sorry you're having trouble, I found them quite responsive to emails, but that was 2 years ago now. I do remember there being a long "dark period" during the handoff, though mine wasn't as bad as yours. No news for days upon days, then suddenly it'll be here tomorrow, that's what I remember.
I dunno, a couple, 3 weeks to get something shipped intercontinental seems pretty good to me.
Of course I'm in Canada, so shipping within the country takes a week, and from US to Canada and vice versa takes two weeks at least.
I had a shipment go from Ohio to my home here, about a grand total of 160 miles, take 3 weeks.

Agreed. I'm interested to see reviews of the P7 basses, specifically the 5-string.
My P-Bass is a Fender '71 Swamp Ash/Maple with DR Legend flats and it would be a hard bass to beat, but having a P/J 5-string would be awesome.
We are very spoiled in the US with regard to shipping times. Especially in this "Amazon Prime" day-and-age.
I think US consumers are just spoiled. I know I am.
I don't know why everybody is bashing Thomann when the mess apparently comes from someone else who participates in the export/import process and does not share data with the customer.

Actually, nobody knows exactly what's going on in the shipping/customs process.
I've been pretty clear about my grievances with Thomann; it is their lack communication that I take issue with. Had they offered the USPS tracking info on their website, along with the DHL tracking, they'd get a lot less emails from confused customers. They even acknowledged this when I gave them feedback on the matter.
They are actually looking to redesign the tracking part of their website due to this issue, so that says something about how much flack they're getting over it. They finally came through for me and have been responsive ever since since I have contacted management. I actually feel much better about my transaction now, honestly. They made good and I respect that.
Good news! My Sire V7 Vintage Alder/Maple AW 5 string has been delivered and it's a stunner!
This was a Thomann B-Stock bass; there isn't a SINGLE blemish on it and zero signs of use, everything is perfect. However, it's pretty heavy @ 10.6lbs, I'm thinking this bass might have made it to B-Stock due to its weight. I'm a Warwick endorser, so I'm very use to very heavy basses. My Warwick's weight A LOT, especially my custom shop Streamer Stage I 6-string (13lbs).
So, fit and finish is pretty damn good, I must say. The machines work well and the knobs do stick up higher than I was expecting (I'll likely change them out). Beyond that, the bass is stellar. The Antique White finish is great, with no finish issues at all. The maple neck and fretboard is well figured and the finish is top-notch as is the binding with no frets pushing through the binding.
The neck is as straight as an arrow with zero relief. I'll wait a day or so and dial-in some relief with a little truss rod adjustment and give it a full setup as the bass is pretty poorly setup from Thomann. Frets don't appear to need any dressing, but I won't know for sure until after I give it a full setup. Despite having zero neck relief, the bass plays great! The neck is fast, comfortable and easy to play.
Here is the Sire compared to my 1971 Fender P-Bass (Swamp Ash/Maple).
EDIT: This V7 was also made in Indonesia, if that matters to anyone.
