I received my Sire V7-5 ash natural on Thursday. Very impressed with the construction and tone but couldn't live with the weight and so it's going back. Mine weighed at 11lbs 2oz so, if the average is 9.65lbs there must some less than 9lbs out there I guess!

I can understand that they can't check them individually but I didn't realize the potential to be so much over the average was there. So I'm down shipping both ways but there's no way I could handle 11lbs + on a gig.

To all of our fellow Sire Bass Club members,

Can someone do a side by side comparison between the Sire MMV7 and a Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass. IMHO I feel that the Sire MMV7 is on par with a Fender Jazz Deluxe in terms of quality of build and fit/finish as well as electronics and playability. I am very pleased with my MMV7 and think that it can hold it's own against any other bass. Please share your thoughts...

I wish I could truly compare them, but I have neither. I've GAS'd for a V7 ever since I first heard of them, and have been actively following their rise to prominence, but I have yet to pull the trigger. Someday perhaps, but for now, I'll simply admire from afar and enjoy them vicariously through others.

The alders seem to run on average a little lighter than the ash models. 10-11 lbs. is my limit, just sold a SR5 that was 12 1/2 lbs, not happening for me! Jim

I had an american Fender jazz deluxe 5 strings 2014...now i have a beautiful Miller v7 5
the b string is better on my miller...
Fender, compared to Miller, is a little better ... especially the hardware...but man ... in Italy the Fender Deluxe costs four times as much the Miller !! There is no comparison, the Miller v7 is unbeatable in his price range and i think up to 1000 euro

No worries there! I took a year of Photography back in school, so my NBD's tend to be rather pic-heavy.

I will say one thing, if I ever get one, it'll definitely be the sunburst/alder/rosewood model. I like that visual combo best, plus I'm a "tone-wood skeptic", so I'm not about to split hairs there. Let's just say the only "Ash vs.…" conflict I'm currently interested in ends with the term "…Evil Dead".

For those of you who have ordered and waited nearly a month, there is good news! Sire's managing director called me and told me that my bass will more then likely be shipped out the Thursday after next. I can't wait to get my bass and share the pics!!! Someone put elixir strings? They are long enough thru the body?

My experience with 34" scale basses is that the standard Elixirs will not fit strung thru the body. They do make a longer scale set but i have never tried them. They may do the trick but not sure.

Also i received a notice from Mickey saying that the 5 string bass i ordered will be two weeks delayed. I ordered a 4 string over a month ago and that also was delayed a little longer. That being said....this 4 string bass is soooo worth the wait. If the 5 string is in the same league i will be a happy camper. Would much rather have an instrument that will last the rest of my days and wait a few extra weeks. So i hope there is no one pressuring them to try and speed things up. Amazing instrument and i have been playing for 35 years and have owned MANY basses in that time.

If i am loving on the 5 string i was also thinking of trying one of the fretless basses. Heck for the price of these i can sell my original Greg Curbow Petite fretless 5 and have all three of these Sire's. BTW if anyone is interested in an awesome Curbow Petite i will be selling that in the next few months. Great amazing playing and sounding bass but it just isn't for me. I like the comfort of a jazz bass body and feel. Don't even know what to ask for that bass. But i got off track....does anyone have any experience with a Sire fretless and your thoughts? I saw someone posted a Soundcloud clip of that but Soundcloud has no volume control so i try not to click on those because with my set up i will blow my speakers up and it is a pain to adjust just to listen to one clip of something.... end of ramble ....lol

Yesterday i tried with an old elixir's set...only the lowb isn't Long enough thru the body...
need an extra long lowb

Wow! Mine makes so much noise I can't solo the pickups. I wonder what the difference is?

I just received mine, and i didn't experience any noise. I play at home, through my amp and diretly to my interface and it is very silent in every position. Played live too, an still noiseless
