Haven't had that problem with the upgraded tuners they put on later 1 gen basses

Exactly, they are made out of some kind of soft pot metal.
The replacement tuner I got the first time it happened was the same type as the old tuners.
So while I might make a warranty claim on this one as well, it's a bit frustrating to know that I am only postponing the problem by replacing one pot metal tuner with another pot metal tuner.
Just for general info. About 2 weeks ago I saw a post either here on on another site on facebook that showed Hipshot has replacement tuners for Sire basses. HB14 for the V series.
Good to know and yep, it's true I just checked the Hipshot site. The HB14 tuners come in nickle, black or gold and also either clover or lollipop shapes. It is interesting though that they only use two screws instead of four.
Currently going on 4 years and 1 month with my V7 5. Sounding great and no issues (knocks on wood 
). Took it out to the gig on Friday night (been a little bit) and enjoyed every second of it. Gotta get the Dunlop strings off of it though.....not a fan.

I don't like bent plate bridges that aren't string through , too hard for string changes without marring the finish behind the bridge where the strings feed through . I don't think the higher mass bridges add much to the tone of the bass , the steel saddle of the Sire with the string through is fine for tone to me and changing strings is a snap .
The preamp and the pickups sound great to me , no need to look for aftermarket options . I really like it passive . Tuners seem fine now , no trouble tuning it when setting the string and pickup height . B-string seems very good so far . Carbon fiber rods in the neck should help to make the neck stay more rigid .
The finish of the bass is just awesome , the grain of the Mahogany works very well with the Sunburst . The Rosewood board is very dark , almost like Ebony . It doesn't seem like a budget bass at all to me , I really dig it , this was my first day with it but it's great so far .

So far the prices seem to be holding steady, but yes it does seem you are correct, now available at GC.
Wow. When these get to be in regular stores, I predict it's really going to change the marketplace.
There will always be naysayers, but most people that A/B these with similar MiM fenders are going to be shocked by the disparity.
I think the biggest problem will be the intimidating pre-amp.
Overall, great news for musicians. Better instruments, more widely available to try and peruse over.

I bought my Sire V7 off of the opinions of the Sire bass club and TB in general. I did my homework and researched the company and other sites as well. It was a daunting feeling buying a bass I had not tried out before. But it was the best purchase of my life (music wise). I love it and saving for a VV7. For those who don't know Sire or are wary of buying online or would not buy unless tried selling Sires at GC is an incredible thing for both companies.
That is true jlepre but at least they can be played and that is a big step

It looks as if some are available via their online store right now and other models on "preorder." All of the models are not listed.
As most of us know, Sire has been pretty much making each bass as they sell it. Certainly a year or so ago it wasn't like they held much stock that wasn't already purchased. Now that they are rolling out to places like Guitar Center I wonder if they'll be able to produce enough to allow brick and mortar stores to keep stock on hand.
I'm not talking about online. I'm talking about actual basses in stock at the stores to try.
