Congratulations Ron, that looks good. I ordered mine November 4, alder white 5st. But no word grom Mickey yet. I have called and emailed this week but nada.

It shipped on Nov 19 standard shipping ups. I called in on a weekday afternoon 10 days after I ordered it because of no email conformation and charge on my credit card. No answer and full voice mail but then a few minutes later Micky called me. I had the order number to give to him. He said he would email a conformation when it ships. The next day ups sent a conformation. No problems after that. I would call Mickey again.
Ordered mine on Nov. 11th, I think our batch is being shipped on or before Dec. 5, Saturday, we'll see! Jin
Here's hoping I have better luck with mine. Still curious if this is sample variations or just player preferences though. I like a medium low action on my Fbass, if I can get that on the Sire I'll be happy. Jim

Mention that to Mickey and I bet they get on that. They have reacted fairly quickly to previous constructive feedback.
I've seen lots of more expensive basses with poorly cut nuts. Better to have a little room to be able to lower the slots IMO, than too low.
Still no update as of yet hopefully in the next couple of days. Not counting on it being here for my big gig next Saturday at this point.

Yeah, it sure seems like it's happening disproportionately to other quality issues. My M3's E string nut slot was cut too low and I was getting back-buzz so I had to fix it.

There are also plenty of other basses expensive and otherwise that I would consider "starter kits".
Not so, the Marcus Millers.
Not making excuses, but as we all know, meticulous nut and fret work are time consuming and will add to the cost of an instrument. Knowing that these basses are actually targeted as entry level instruments to players that probably don't know the difference yet..I was to overlook those shortcomings as long all other aspects were on point construction wise and sound wise. A small investment in nut and fret work make everything else well worth the time and effort.
On mine, they appear to be cut equal depths, resulting in near zero radius (and top of the G is below the top of the nut). Thus the A and D strings are a hair above the 1st fret, while the E and G float fairly high. If I decide to "stay in the club", a whole new nut will be in order.
I can get a custom brass one for under $20 on zGay. Anyone here ever order one from Guitar Techs?

I've ordered stuff from them before and been happy, not a custom brass nut though. I did just grab several graphtech black tusq nuts for cheap from another seller.
So the nuts are not CNC? If they are I would think that the heights would be dialed in to be pretty uniform across different basses. If they are cut by hand well yeah, it's pretty much a crapshoot then.
