Sire Marcus Miller V7V+ S4 2nd Generation

I was just wondering if anyone has one of these, or has any thoughts on them.

I think they look amazing and sound great, but the glossy neck finish was a big turnoff for me.

I dislike glossy necks in general, so other than the 70's pickup spacing, there was no interest in the V7 vintage when other options were available from Sire.

I do own that exact model, and am very content with it. I had a regular V7 2nd Gen 4 string, too, but much prefer the smaller frets and the less flat radius of the V7 Vintage, and I prefer the looks, too.
The neck works for me, it doesn't feel sticky, though it is not as superb as Sire's roasted necks IMHO.

Thanks matey. I have never played one of these, but I have been watching them for a while, and fancy getting one. I'm looking to spend under £1000, and V7V seems to have good reviews and tick the boxes. Are there any others in the range that you'd recommend over this one?

I mainly play my Sire basses (the V7 Vintage and a 1st gen V7 Swamp Ash Fretless, both bought new 4-5 years ago) passive, so nowadays I would think about a passive V5 (which wasn't existing back then) because the V5 shares the small frets and the 70ties PU spacing with the V7 Vintage but has that great roasted neck with the smooth satin back...

Just my 2 cents, I guess you will get much more feedback if you ask in the Sire Club thread...

Excellent... thanks for taking the time. I've had a number of basses over the years, but when looking at a new brand of beast, I always like to get the views of those who use them regularly. Much more value than a quick try in a shop.
