Sire V5 ding on headstock

I agree, they do have good business practice. If it also happened on Sire I guess they somwehow ding them as they apparently do QC and setup on Sires (and maybe other brands). On contrary not so good QC if they ding them that often😂

I'm also paid a ton of money for multiple basses to be relic'd. And i've bought a new Sire and immediately repainted it and modded it. And i really don't pay no mind to most of the nicks and dings in any of my other basses if they don't affect playability. So definitely question my intelligence. But for a ding that small that only you would notice, i would definitely take the money & put it towards strings or a pedal or plugin or something. Definitely money over a whole new bass that could be a dud or also get damaged.

Guess I could add money up to get Gotoh tuners as they are lighter than stock ones on Sire. And some metal knobs as those plastic ones seem horrendous.

I knew a guy that every time he bought a new car (and he bought quite a few, $$$$ was not a problem), he was really anxious about getting a scratch or ding on one. He finally decided enough was enough to all that worry, so when he'd get another new car, he'd take a long screwdriver and make a little scratch on a rocker panel along the bottom where you had to look to find it, but his mind was clear he no longer had to worry about that first scratch.

AND they're going to give you 40 Euros for that little nothing? Done deal.

I don’t like relic jobs, and really try not to bang up my basses….yet it always seems to happen anyway. Since it plays well and the dent isn’t anything major, I would definitely keep it and take the discount.

Of course, I will test it out as much as I can. Judging from reviews it should have pretty stable neck.

I'm probably not going to see it at all because I'm already forgetting but I guess it bugged me at the moment as bass was just unpacked.

Thanks, appreciate it. I plan on keeping this one for a long time. I'm not much of bass player as I recently started but I do play guitar (also not that good🤣) and have few of them which I will most likely keep for a long time as I don't need anything special. I play at home for my pleasure and jam with friends when I can😃

As much as I like to keyboard warrior that I’m above such reactions, I’ve more than done the same. If anything it seems to be the nervous systems craving a test of their customer service response time than of actual punitive compensation.

Bonus points for feeding the TB jury. Our amusement is your penance for the reaction. lol!

I love TB, is all I really have to say.

OP, I feel ya. If this were me, I would have searched the interwebs, pondered over color and wood combinations, and waited with bated breath until the bass arrived. Then to see the ding, which I agree with the others is small, I would be let down. I would head Fu$% myself about it for days, until I walked away from it for a day or two, and then realize I like playing the bass and it's all okay and take their cash offer and buy the lightweight tuners!
Another way to look at it: If you walked into their shop and there were two basses, one clean and this one with the little ding, and the dinged one had a $40 discount, which would you buy? For me, if the sale one played better, it would come home with me. However, I understand you didn't get that choice.

To be honest, I already forgot about it. And yeah, better don't ask how long I tought about color combo...😆😆😆
