Sire V5 ding on headstock

Hello everyone,

I just decided to get myself 5 string and it came with a small ding on headstock and now I'm debating on keeping it. Everything else seems fine and it does play nice. Thomann offered 40 euro discount or replacement for new one.
What would you choose? Keep it and put 40 euro towards something else or risk new one that may not be that good? I know it's small one and I will most probably make a few myself but it's bugging me a bit as it's new guitar

I would keep it, knowing that sooner or later I would ding it up and the ding would probably be worse than that is.

Keeper all the way. If it makes you feel any better, I dinged the headstock on a new Ric 4003 about an hour after I brought it home. It's mojo baby! (Think Austin Powers voice).

Funny thing is I actually wouldn't worry if I dinged it myself

If it played well, sounded good and I was happy with it, I'd keep it collect the 40 euros, steam the ding out and smile.

Exactly! I swear most of my basses have a ding in the headstock at least that size.

I'd take that €40 and immediately buy something else from Thomann.

I'm also paid a ton of money for multiple basses to be relic'd. And i've bought a new Sire and immediately repainted it and modded it. And i really don't pay no mind to most of the nicks and dings in any of my other basses if they don't affect playability. So definitely question my intelligence. But for a ding that small that only you would notice, i would definitely take the money & put it towards strings or a pedal or plugin or something. Definitely money over a whole new bass that could be a dud or also get damaged.

If you aren’t putting your own dings on instruments, it’s a sign you need to find more opportunities to make music with other people outside your home.

Consider it the universe’s way of telling you to enjoy your bass in a new location.

Same thing happened to me with that company....wanted to own a six string bass and they had a great deal on one
However it arrived to me in usa with a ding on the head stock...not effecting play and the price I paid..I just let any disappointment dissipate and went on. And yes..when I notified them about...they offered me the same terms which I thought was a good business practice on their end.

Of the dings you will inevitably bring, that is the one with the least possible sting.

It’s not a player till you ding’em there.

Keep the bass and take the money. It will inevitably get dings and bruises if it’s a player. Consider this permission and encouragement to play the heck out of it!
