Sire V7 blend knob

Anyone have a problem with the blend knob? When I solo the bridge pickup, the output is really low.
I took my first generation V7 to the tech at Guitar Center and he said he would rewire the connections to troubleshoot if it’s a problem with the pickup. If not that, could be the preamp. I hope it’s something minor like just the blend pot needing to be replaced.

Please try this adjustment before modifying the preamp...

With both pickups at the same height, or distance from strings, the bridge pickup will typically be more quiet because the string vibration is not as wide over the bridge pickup as it is over the neck pickup.

I suggest, if you haven’t done this already, to put the bass in passive mode and raise the bridge pickup until the pickup balance suits you. If the bridge pickup is at maximum height and you still don’t have the balance you’re after lower the neck pickup until you hear the property balance.

If a pickup is too close to the strings you will hear a warble to the note and may observe the note pitch fluctuating on your tuner due the pickup magnets pulling on the strings. If you experience this lower the offending pickup and then adjust the other for volume balance between pickups.

I should’ve mentioned I’ve had this bass for several years and never had this problem before until recently.

Aah, you’ve owned this bass for several years and this is a new issue, good to know.
Is the output difference only in active mode or both active and passive?
Did you happen to change strings and then the issue occurred? String brands or types have different magnetic properties which can affect pickup output.
And of course, are the batteries fresh?
By chance have you sprayed some DeOxit into the pots? That really helped my V7 pots operate more quietly and smoothly. Each of my other basses, too!

The tech at Guitar Center told me that the bridge pup doesn’t work. I contacted Sire Guitars and they sent me an invoice for a replacement plus shipping.
