Sire V7 or G&L JB Tribute

Hi, I have a 1986 Peavey Foundation and like it. But I'm always looking at Jazz Bass basses. I don't want to spend too much. So I spoted the Sire Marcus Miller V7 and the G&L JB Tribute. First question : Should I change my Peavey Foundation for one of these? Second question : If so, which one should I choose. V7 preamp is interesting but not a major plus. I'm looking for the best kne for a long term relation.

Sire makes a great product. The preamp is one of the best. Keep the Peavey and get the Sire.

I wouldn't get rid of the Peavey if you like it. They don't make these basses anymore, you might regret selling it.
Maybe save up a little longer for one of the other basses - also to save some money, you can look for used versions of the Sire or the G&L. I think both brands are great but between those two basses and specifically for a jazz type bass, I would get the Sire V7. You can also save some money by getting a Sire V3.

I've been a fan of G&L for a long time (have played and currently own a number of their guitars, and a USA L-2500 5-string). That said, I just got a Sire V7 2nd Gen and am absolutely blown away by it. It's fantastic, and everything about it feels and sounds like a much more expensive instrument than it is. I would honestly put it up with the quality of the USA G&Ls I've played.

I’d go with the G&L because they’re well made and I like simple controls.

Also if you don’t want your foundation I might be interested.

I’ve owned a 1st Gen Sire V7 for about one year and it rocks! Quality, style, “feel” are excellent in my experience. I’ve not played a G&L JB Tribute however I really like my G&L M2500 Tribute.
I don’t think you can go wrong with either.

Thanks guys. I also had a look at Bacchus. The Global Series is at the same price as Sire V7. Does some of you have an idea about which could be the best choice. I saw some Bacchus with hardwood body and techwood fretboard. Is that good?
