SIT Bass Strings

My theory is the pickups on the bc rich had a different mid frequency that is at the forefront of the note being played and the pro steel might have tamed it down and boosted something else to even it out. Or because of the nature of the strings you might have had to change eq settings. I definitely shift things when needed. I have plenty of pedals to help bring out what I want in tone. Frequency shift knobs are great for this.
Yeah, the Pro Steel are naturally scooped-sounding. The pickups are those old Bartolini Hi-A. I think most people gravitate towards a small window of tonal variation. I've found strings that bring all my basses into that range. That makes me happy.

The nickel Power Wounds come in short and medium scale.

I posted this in the Spector thread:

Today I got a set of SIT nickel for medium scale for my Spector Bamtam 5. This may be my first set of nickel strings. I’m really liking them so far. Way more balanced tone top to bottom than I expected and a really nice feel and not too microphonic. I found that I got a really great range of tones mixing up the tone knobs, the DR HiBeams were not giving me much variety doing the same tone sweep.

Even better is that, to me at least, more of the Spector growl was present. Wasn’t getting much of that from the DRs.

Color me impressed with SIT strings. See how they are in a week once they settle in and lose the new string zing.

Not going to rule out a set of medium scale flats just for fun, (Dunlop I think). Curious what I can get for sounds in this combination.

Great to hear! Not surprised about your impressions vs the DR. I always found DR strings too "polite."
