Skateboarding

Used to look forward to the new CCS catalog every month....

Ahhhhh yeah!
Remember Concrete Disciples?
I used to travel for work, and I'd bring my son along now and then who loved to skateboard.
We used that website to find local skateparks. We even found a couple on our own that we told them about.

I'm so disappointed Adio no longer makes skate shoes. They were my favorite after the Arto Saari Etnie. He sports New Balance now.
Yeah, same thing I said...New Balance makes skate shoes????? But hey, so does Nike and Adidas.

I posted a thread recently about longboarding. Does anybody on here skateboard?
I sort of did as a kid: really sucked at it and got my board at a toy store. Last year I bought my kid the real deal skateboard at a skateboard shop (Utopia Norwalk CT) and had it all custom made at the shop. Had her pick-out everything from the board, to the trucks to the wheels, to having sand-paper and so on. While I was there I had a desire to try again till I got on a couple of boards there. Nope...not this guy!

I used to skate on and off between the ages of 8 and early 20s, was never that good. still have a board somewhere but it's most likely destined for the charity shop.

it's funny, even now I find myself looking a kerbs, benches, banks etc thinking "oh that looks skateable".

Glad to see this post up and running again. I guess bringing zombies back to life isn't always bad.
As I said previously I primarily skated transitions and cruiser boards. I recently discovered a YouTube channel and website called Braille Skateboarding. They are great, a pro on there Aaron Kyro who is breaking down tricks into simple moves. They have a course called Skateboarding Made Simple, it's broke into different levels, vol 1 thru 6. It starts with simple pushing and riding and moves you into tricks appropriate for your skill level. Though the vol are like $6 each, they have lots of trick vids on their channel. I never had any plan to leave the ground till I watched his vids, he makes it very simple to learn tricks the way he teaches. I'm now taking on stuff I never dreamed of doing.
There is also a new product on the market called Skate Trainers. They are square rubber cages that go over your wheels, which allows you to learn a trick first without worrying about your board squirting out from under you. Not something just for beginners, but for people of all skill levels.
I'm really pumped to discover all this, my only bummer is winter is upon us. I'm definitely going to be ready for when the weather clears this spring. Gonna go to some inside parks, and still go out to parking lots. Been out every night I can, even in freezing temps.
Would be cool to hear from all you fellow shredders and keep this post rolling along.
