Hey, I made a thread a while ago asking about slapping a fretless, and now I'm here asking how much are those "slap bars" that you you can put on them and where can I find them? Thanks

I don't think you can find them as the ones I'm familiar with have to be fitted like a nut does. If the end of your fingerboard is square and not rounded things will be easier. You up for making one?
No, not the pup covers, a metal bar that goes on the end of a fretless neck, so you can get the slap tone of a fretted.
Well, some of the same tone. The attack sounds fretted but the note sounds fretless, it's still pretty different. I remember some company offering this on a particular model, I think it might have been Vigier.
Bunny Brunel gets a great and rather fretted tone when slapping his fretless mostly by fooling with the EQ.
I remember seeing what might have been a Benavente, a fretless with a big metal block at the end of the board for slapping.
I don't think that would work. You'll still get that mellower sound of the fretless fingerboard.

It seems to me that if one wanted the slap sound of a fretted bass... They would buy a fretted bass...
Slapping on a fretless sounds very different but just as cool. There was a guy at NAMM this week who was slapping on a fretless Sage 4 string and the sound was awesome.
If you are going to slap a fretless, don't alter the end of the board, just play with your eq to get the tone you desire. You will not get a fretless slap to sound like a fretted - appreciate the difference.

You can express yourself better on fretless. (I think)
HG Thor just got my Peavey TL-6 yesterday.
Im trying to talk him into putting a slap bar on for me.
What about using a longer length, say a five string, uncut brass nut and just shaving it down to size? Proving you were guna stick it on a 4string.
