I would just add that listening is one of the major things you need to do when trying to learn any musical style. I would personally recommend getting anything with Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Mark King, Louis Johnson, Victor Wooten and many, many others. Listening will not teach you to slap, but you will get the right sound in your ear, and that will make your learning so much easier and quicker. I listened to hours upon hours of Paul Chambers recording before I started playing upright bass and even beofre I played any jazz at all. And when I did start learning, it came so much quicker because of what I had absorbed via listening to one of the greats on that instrument in that genre. i also listened to a lot of Ron Carter and Ray Brown too. Listending is half of playing music, people forget that though.
