I've had many small combos and the old SWR WorkingPro 12 is my all-time favorite. Not cheap and hard to find now, but a really solid brick of an amp and very loud. About 45 lbs.

Small Combo Recommendations

I mean the amp. I had a Little Mark II for a couple year when they first came out. It was initially paired with an Aguilar GS 210 cab and then a pair or a single Aguilar GS 112. In both cases I could never dial out the lower mid hump with any of the eq options on the amp. I was convinced it was the room I was regressing in but it happened in several. When I sold the GS112 the guy who bought it had a TC 750 and got a beautiful sound out of cab and that in part convinced me to sell the amp. I've since played other 1x12 and 2x10 mb combos and experienced the same thing. I think it may have to do with where they put their eq centers in low mids. I've now had 2 GK MB heads and there's no low mid bump and the eq is very flexible. My current small combo is my GK MB 800 and a bergantino ae112. Prior to that I used the GK MB 200. Yes I know the berg cost far more than most combos and 400/800 watts is overkill but I means I can have 1 head and switch out cabs as needed (ae112, avatar tb153,berg nv610). If I were looking for a small combo is grab another GK MB200 and check it out with a bunch of 1x10 and 1x12 lightweight cabs till you find one you like.
That's very interesting. I suppose its import depends on a persons tone preferences. I had read posts about the unusual EQ centers on mark bass amps. I don't know if I would be bothered by that, but I prefer flexible EQ. To my ear, the GK heads have a somewhat mid-forward voicing that is hard to EQ out. Overall, though, they have pretty flexible and powerful EQ. I'm not sure when GK came up with their EQ scheme, but my the EQ on my 400RB (II) head behaves very similar to that on my MB500 and MB115 combo.

It really comes down to what sorta tone appeals to u. Most amps have their own 'flavor'. A truly transparent amp may sound bland and unappealing to some. I prefer Genz Benz Streamliners and Markbass TTE 500s. Very different from GKs. All comes down to a good sit down session with a few.
I use a Shuttle 6.0 combo at home. It is terrific. 32 lbs. 21 3/4" x 18 3/8" x 14 1/4"
The 3.0 is 18lbs and 15 1/2" x 14" x 11 3/4" . I have not played through one of these though.

I have a Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 8t and it is a great little amp. I use this as a practice amp and would not be afraid to use it in a small venue to gig with. You would be very surprised at the sound that comes out of this little amp. If it is not loud enough you always have the ability to plug another cab into it. I have a Genz 12" cab I can plug into it and I get all the loud sound I need out of it.
I used an Eden EC28 at a small outdoor gig in front of a crowd of 150 or so last weekend. I used it as a monitor and DI'd it to the console. I was very pleased with the results. It is small, lightweight and has a nice, punchy tone with pretty versatile EQ section. I don't think there'd be any issues soloing it indoors with a crowd of several dozen. The price is right, too. Got mine on eBay for $338 delivered, but have seen it as high as $479 or so.
