I need suggestions, but I have some criteria:-
Here's my problem. My "vintage" 1988 Boss GE-7B is finally started giving up. It's now emitting a quiet but audible whirring whining noise, so I'm thinking I should start putting the feelers out for a replacement before it becomes unusable.
The new Boss GEB-7 Bass EQ pedal has frequency bands of 50Hz, 120Hz .... MASSIVE GAPING HOLE ..... then 400Hz etc. That massive gap is a problem for me. I've come to rely on 250Hz for live work as a key frequency for controlling room acoustics, and I have no intention of making do without it.
So I look around and most of the small EQ pedals seem to have copied Boss and have the same yawning gap. I also have a Boss EQ-20 which is awesome, but it's too big to fit into my pedal board. The only other EQ pedals I can find with the frequencies I want are also too big. The pedal has to be the size of a standard boss pedal or smaller.
The other thing that pops up a lot is the EQ pedal for bass and guitar, something like the MRX 6 band EQ. These seem to have control over 200Hz, which is nice, but their lowest frequency band is only 100Hz and as a bass player I'd prefer some control over that 50-60Hz region too.
So ideally I'd like something the same size as my current GE-7B with the same or similar frequency bands would be awesome (i.e 62Hz, 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, and 4kHz). Does such a thing exist?
