Small gig amp HELP!

My band did a show for a school dance were I used the school's bass amp because I only have a practice amp. Now we are getting requests to play parties and the like and its time to upgrade. I'm kind of on a budget being a student and all ($200-300). I was looking at the GK backline 112 combo and the Crate BT100. Any insite as to what to go with?
(suggestions of other amps in my price range would be useful too).

:help::help:

go used, way more bang for the buck in your price range

big +1 on this. Go to your local shops, and see what they have used in your price range. The bigger the better for this kind of money is going to help you compete for volume in a band. A $300 100 watt 1x12 combo isn't going to do you much good against your average drummer and guitarists volume.

For Low cost , but good $/watt, I think a Peavey TNT150 would be perfect for you. Check out Craigslist in your area, or Ebay. The TNT 150 has great tone and volume and is very roadworthy.

search musicgoround.com and craigslist.com mpls. then go try the gear and see if its working right...
