Small girthy overdrive?

Not quite sure how to describe what I'm looking for. Want an overdrive pedal thats got the thickness/girth of an old green russian big muff/ or the fender sublime with the gain right down. Want clean articulation. I want it to sound like my bass but fuller, Wider?. It doesn't need much gain, if it gets a slight bit of break up fine. Slightly gritty/creamy texture is preferable to overly clean and sparkly.

Preferably in an MXR size enclosure... Can anyone give me a suggestion? I don't have any references to give/specific examples but if you've got something/suggestions they will be checked out.

How about the Way Huge Pork Loin? There are some clips in my signature. It's in a slightly bigger enclosure than you're looking for, but I think it will do the sound you are wanting.

Its in the right realm, but its not the one I search for. Size is somewhat of an issue so looking for something nano/xo/boss sized preferably.

I don't really know about how much OD pedals can get Big Muff girth, etc, but look into the Catalinbread SFT. It's not a gain-fest but it breaks up and is really tweakable and versatile.

Gemini Drive and Ddyna Thinman. Both are small, girthy, and do the just-breaking-up grit excellently. The Gemini is more versatile, but the Thinman is cheaper, and easier to dial in.

The SFT is probably a good choice too but I haven't used it myself yet to recommend.

While you are checking the Gemini also check out the Cross Drive, it has loads of booty, very articulate and small. I just got one and I am really digging it for live in my power blues trio and neo classic rock/boogie band.

If I recall correctly, the Fulltone OCD can get in that ballpark nicely.

Though it might have more gain on tap than you're looking for--I haven't played with my old guitarist in a while, so I haven't had much of a chance to mess around with it recently.

If you want a "fuller" tone (more low end) buy an EQ to place before whichever OD pedal you get and add in more lows.

I'll try to record some samples--I definitely have "creamy"-sounding pedals (the MXR Distortion II and Fuchs Valve Job, both modded for bass).

And adding an EQ in front is a lousy solution. It muddies up the low mids without actually "adding in" the lows that get cut off by so many dirt pedals.
