Small Home Practice Amp recommendations ?

Hey guys,

What would you recommend for a home practice amp?

I’d like something small with decent tone, I was looking at the micro mark bass amp, it would be perfect except the price is a little too high.

Any recommendations for something similar with a small foot print, good sound and cheaper than the micro mark bass?

I’ve loved my Ampeg BA108, as I love my Rumble 25. Not high end, but they get the job done. (And I use Markbass for my gig rig.)

My other thought was GK MB110, but looks like it’s only $50 less than the Markbass

what kind of rig do you use for gigging ? any reason you can't use it for practice ?
I've always been a big advocate of using your live rig to practice (or at least parts of it if you have a huge stage rig for some reason). You just get more familiar with your live sound gear that way ... and all amps have a volume knob of some kind, so volume should not be an issue.

ah, well ... if you like the Markbass sound then perhaps its best to stick with it for your small practice amp if you can't use the main amp at home. You'll at least be dealing with a similar EQ and tone stack.

If you’re going Fender Rumble I would pick the 40 with the 10” speaker. IMO it sounds much better than the 25, and it’s lighter too.

If you're gonna go with a 15 and 4-10 you could also look at something like Berg 3-12. Should be loud enough.

I dumped my Rumble 25 for a Ampeg BA110. It is Actually big enough to use at a coffee shop gig.

Gallien-Krueger MB108. Amazing little amp.
I've used a Sansamp or a Rusty Box in front of mine and it is a little chameleon. It takes pedals well and has surprising output.

Used Peavey Minx. 30W, 10" speaker.

Ampeg something. BA 115, BA 112, BA 110. I believe that Version 2 on most of these will allow an external speaker to be connected. Version 1’s are ok, 2’s may be more the way to go.

I use an Acoustic B15, I think they're about $50-60 new. Small, works well for my small apartment, and the sound is okay for a small practice amp.

If you can find a used Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 or 3.2. they are great little amps. Pretty awesome sounding. And you can even add another cab if you want. 300 watts into 4 ohms. But small and some real pro capability.

Yep Rumble 40 trounces the Rumble 25, and has the same peramp features of the higher Rumble series. Light as hell. Sounds good. I bought mine used $100. You can't say we didn't warn you.
