Small Home Practice Amp recommendations ?

I have a shuttle 3.0/10 but I also do most of my practice through headphone from my DAW in my laptop. This is a bit out of the norm but I can also plug direct into my powered studio monitors. Plugged direct into one of my little M-audio BX5s has a very high studio quality flat tone with plenty of juice for low volume practice with a much better low volume tone than even my shuttle. The foot print does not get any smaller and gives full range response.

Trace eliot with 10" cab is very good.
Fender rumble 40 is ok.
Markbass has good answers but you have to check out and see their price because they can be pricey for different region highly recommend if you are in europe .

If you're talking about the 801 with the 8" speaker, yes, I have two of them and love them. Never tried the 6" Micromark.

But the Markbass 801 goes for $500 and you'll be lucky to find a used one. I think the answer to the question you posed here is the Fender Rumble 40, an excellent value at less than $200. I speak from experience because I have one of those, too.

Positive grid Spark has some bass models in it, has a whole lot of features for $300.
I should be getting mine in about a month, no experience with it first hand yet but it looks like the ultimate practice set up, I’m primarily using it for guitar but it does do bass as well

I like my MB Minimark - not cheap but sounds great and its my go to gig amp for smaller gigs (even with a drummer) and it has a DI fort larger gigs with front of house support.

I've got a Gallien Krueger MB108. Pretty cheap, definitely loud enough for home practice, sounds great, made in USA. Aux in and headphone out. Everything you need in a home practice combo amp and nothing you don't. Can't go wrong, really.

me, i disliked the rumble 15 - it had, to my ear, no bass and made every bass in the house sound more like a guitar.

in a similar price range is the rumble 25 and the hartke HD15, both of which have a lot more bass and sound good. or if you can spend $199, i recommend the rumble 40 - i like mine a lot. it's more amp than you need for quiet at home practice and it's loud enough to jam with people in coffee house like surroundings, playing some kinds of jazz or any kind of music if the people you play with don't feel the need to jam at concert volume and the drummer has either self restraint or an electric kit. if you prefer the ampeg voice, a small ampeg combo can also deliver the goods.

I like using this with over the ear headphones. Sounds better than most small amps IMO. And I can blend in music from an iPad or stereo real easy and when I play a part of a song 100 times to get it down my family doesn’t suffer.

The Roland 20XL was my choice for a small home amp. Great features, high quality and great value. Headphone jack is very useful.
It’s actually a great sounding combo. Small footprint as well.

Depends on how small you want it.

But a used Ampeg B100R combo is a good choice IMO. 100W into a 15” speaker. 4 band EQ and switches for low, mid and high boost. Real tone machine. Headphone jack for quiet practice. I got one in excellent condition for $350. Highly recommended.

Me again, I would not dump a lot of money for a practice amp. It is all its good for. If you feel you need to send more $$, get something bigger than a 8" 25 watt "practice amp". Unless you have plenty of $$ and a larger amp/cab

I've always been a big advocate of using your live rig to practice (or at least parts of it if you have a huge stage rig for some reason). You just get more familiar with your live sound gear that way ... and all amps have a volume knob of some kind, so volume should not be an issue.

I agree. One thing, I live in a single family dwelling on a double lot in suburbia. That said, in addition to my concert rig, which is mostly stored in the garage, I have 2 combos I practice with that are rated to kick out 320 watts each. Since my practice room is only 10’x12’, I don’t have to crank it that much to get a live effect.
