Small, Medium, or Large?

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong

Ok,

This is the second time this has happened to me at a fast food joint and I'm wondering if I have uncovered a conspiracy.

I go into Carl's Jr and order a Jalapino Combo with a Coke. The guy asks " small, medium or large?"

I respond " uh.....regular".

The guy reaches under the counter and gets me a drink cup that is a size I always considered medium.

It is not one of the cup sizes displayed on the counter front of me. I guess so you can't point to it and say "that one".

No, the three cups on the counter look like,

1.Super small kid size
2.Large
3.Super mondo large

I think this is a scam to make you pay up for a larger drink.

Has this happened to anyone else?

yes this always happens to me. usually they then respond with "there is no regular, there is just small, medium or large" . OR they will give you the large cup and lie to you and tell you that it's the regular size.

I always just order small cause you get free refills and save money. OR i just get water and don't pay for a drink.

IME you don't get refills if you are doing drivethru, or if its in a food court(usually an extra charge associated with the refill).

I always get larges if I am with someone, since we just share the drink. If I'm alone, it depends on how thirsty I am. And no, that hasn't happened to me before.

Yes. Something similar happened to me.

Once I went to Mervyn's to buy some slacks. I walked in and said "I'd like some slacks, babe," to the stunning blonde behind the counter. She pulled out a gigantic pair resembling the ones that so-called "Jared" holds up in the Subway commercials and said, "That will be $19.99." I gave her a wink and said, "I wasn't born yesterday, doll. I'll take that pair of size 32's you're hidin' back there." Her jaw dropped and she was speechless. With a flushed face she stuck her trembling hands behind the counter and pulled out my lucky 32's. Dockers, with the tapered legs. I could tell she wanted me to take her right there but I had to meet an associate at the TCBY for some nonfat frozen yogurt.

I had to get up early for Jury Duty. Get there and it is cancelled :hmm: So I'm not awake, my ride is gone and I have to walk home. So I stop at a Starbucks to get a coffee.

I had never been to Starbucks before and I order a medium coffee. "We have two mediums Sir". ***? If somebody walks in looking like the living dead and orders a medium coffee, just give him one.

I found it strange that a coffee shop cannot understand the concept that some people are not awake enough to make big decisions like "which medium" *before* their first coffee :rollno:

Or maybe it is just me....

Not with the tapered legs, she didn't. Get some man pants, then we'll talk. :D

Ok,

Maybe it's just me ,but this also happened to me
at Baja Fresh.

Maybe it's a Los Angeles thing. Regular is the new medium.

Carl's Jr and Baja Fresh don't have a regular size drink posted on their menu. But if you ask for one they give it to you like it's on a secret menu or something. And why isn't that size cup in full view? Why is it under the counter? :hiding:

Since a lot of people will choose medium, when given the 3 choices, they end up getting a large instead.......(bait and switch if you ask me).

Maybe they just keep a stash of those cups for those who catch on to the "small, medium, large" conspiracy. Was the "regular" less expensive than the medium, but more expensive than the small?

I have now forgotten, but one of the national fast food chains dropped the "small" drink from their menu. Because of that, you could only buy medium, large or extra large. I find it difficult to have a medium without a small. Think on THAT for a while..........

Yeah, but the college educated corporate mind with a Communications Degree that works in marketing knows that a person feels that a meal that comes with medium fries and drink is seen as a better value by most people than one with a small fry and drink, even with the two sizes being identical. Therefore, they sell more meals.
