I use The boss bass EQ and a Boss OC3 with a ampeg 15 inch cab and my bass ****in booms. The boss oc3 gives it a synthy sound.....Im not sure exactly what you're looking for but when Im playing dub/reggae I crank the lows and scoop the mids on my boss eq pedal and it seems to give me that thuddy bass sound. Be sure to play in the middle of the neck.....play c# on the 9th fret instead of the 4th.
