Hey guys, I've been out of the electric scene for about 7 years due to me playing upright jazz music so I need all the help I can get.

Currently in the band I am in now I'm playing a Spector legend 4 through a gk 700rbmii and an ampeg 8x10. That's for my out door and larger venue sound. I need a smaller cabinet and don't know if I should get a 2x10 or a 15 for the smaller room stuff where I can't bring the behemoth amp. The tone I'm going for is growly low end but with mids and highs that are almost in the fusion sound but not quite there yet. I was thinking mesa or orange but please tell me otherwise.

TLDR: good 15 or 2x10 speaker cab to go with a gk 700rbmii

  2. What is your budget?

    $1000 give or take.

  4. I would look at a greenboy Bassic15 loaded with a Faital 15PR400.

  5. Something like this, but you would have your choice of options. Weighs in the low 30's too.

That looks good as well as the weight. Like I said in my post when it comes to electric gear I'm lost so....is that the build it yourself stuff from fearful? At least it looks DIY. Would it be better to put a tweeter in or no.

  8. Nope, its only available through an authorized builder. There are fEARful plans that are free, but this is not in that category. Believe it or not, the 15PR400 has some serious top end extension. There is a Bassic12 with the 12PR300 that has a tweeter, but there is currently no Bassic15 with a tweeter.

  9. The cab on the right is a Bassic12 with the 12PR300 and tweeter. Weighed 22 pounds.

Ok sweet. Thanks for the help

  11. FWIW the Bassic12 I was borrowing for a few weeks is an amazing little cab. You would be surprized at how loud and full it sounds with my PF-500. For small/med stuff it would be gigable for most, depending on the rest of the band. Two of them would be crazy good. Very sweet mids and top end extension.

How does the basic compare to the fearful 15/6 or the sub 15 as far as tones and price

  13. The bassic is not going to be as extended in the lows, but will still handle everything a 5 string can dish out. The mids are going to be there, but they wont have the same off axis dispersion of the fEARful cabs. The 15sub is not a stand alone cab, and should only be used with a fEARful with a mid driver.

As far as price goes, the fEARful plans are free, you can build one your self if you want. If you wanted to go through an AB then you would have to contact them and see what the options you want cost. Most have general prices posted on their web sites.
