Double Bass Smallest great sounding cab for EUB jazz

I need some advice. I play jazz standards in a piano duo using a Walter Woods amp and an Azola EUB. I'm currently using an EA NL210 cab and would like to move go something smaller while maintaining good sound. Any suggestions? 1x12? 1X10? Even smaller speakers like Phil Jones 5's?

Take a look at the thread on Mike Arnopol's 8" wonder. A Walter Woods with an NL 210 is about as good as it gets though.

I've always liked the Acme B1. It's my favorite cabinet for upright and it also sounds pretty good for EUB. I've used Merchant Vertical, Knutson Messenger and Eminence EUBs through that cab with an AI Focus head and it always delivers terrific sound.

The Acme B1 gets my vote too. However, it's 31lbs which isn't exactly light. I just ordered a Crazy 8 so we'll see how it compares. Mike claims it has a clearer midrange and is still warm on the bottom but I won't know until it's here.

I had a B1 and it was good. But the Crazy8 has much better tone and projection - and 1/3 the weight.

The B1 isn't that heavy from what I recall. I had one...it was great, but my Bag End S15X-D outperformed it so I sold it. My upright rig is an Acoustic Image combo with the Bag End as an extension speaker.

The B1 is 31# if I'm not mistaken. Andy makes great stuff.

A number of guys I know (and me) are using an Epifani UL110 box. 20lbs, lots of volume. Warmer sound than you'd expect from a small 1x10/horn box. It was a killer combo with my old Woods head. I use an AI Focus I with it now.
