Smart Pets

Thats nothing.

My friend had a dog that was trained to go get beer out of the beer fridge.

My brother-in-law was at a friend's house and the guy asked if he wanted a beer. The in-law said sure and the guy tells the dog "go get him a beer". The dog comes back with a bottle, gives it to the brother in law comes back to the owner for his praise.
Then the guy says, "I need a beer."
The dog goes over and takes back the beer from my in-law and brings it to his owner.

My ex-wife and I had a german shepherd that figured out how to unlock and open the sliding doors at our house. He'd open them then knock out the screen door. I had to take the handles off the doors.
When it got hot, I put a thin dowel in the track so it wouldn't open beyond a couple of inches. He stuck his head in the opening and forced it until the dowel snapped.
So I put a heavier stick in the track. We came home and there he was, lying in the driveway waiting for us. Go inside and sure enough the slider is wide open, screen door lying outside waiting to be fixed yet again, and the stick is lying on the floor, still wet with his saliva. I could easily picture him sitting there analyzing the scene, thinking, "hmm, what's different here? I see..."

I can't insure my dog anymore after he crashed the car :)

That's always been an area of confusion for me:

They always said that Toonces was the cat who could drive a car, but every time they showed the cat driving the car, he'd crash.

I would submit that Toonces is the cat that cannot drive a car.

Just kidding!

Stay in School! :ninja:

Some of the dogs from Shenandoah's service dog organization alert for seizures in their kids up to 30 minutes before they happen. Sometimes they start doing that in the first week they are paired with their child.

We're working on training Shenandoah to do that, but my daughter (knock on wood) fortunately hasn't had any seizures since early May.

Pretty freakin' cool.

I agree that the beer thing is cool though.
