Smoking in Bars

I'm a smoker. I love it, I enjoy it, and I'm a nicotine addict. My high point was two packs a day, now I'm down to about half-a-pack.

And I totally understand not being allowed to smoke in bars or restaurants. If you want to smoke indoors, go to a cigar bar or similar establishment, but we can't force our habits on other people.

Now, the outdoor smoking ban my city instituted a little while ago, that's just totally f'in ridiculous:

So, I sat in with an indie-rock trio last night, they are trying to decide if they want a bass player or not. Anyway, the bar we played at allows smoking, so I was basically trapped in a cigarette hot box for 3+ hours, it was really gross. I do not smoke, and this is the first time that I have played at this particular bar. Just curious if anyone has any recommendations for curbing the "second hand smoke" hangover that I have had all morning? In my opinion, people should not be allowed to smoke in bars, or any indoor public place, for the record.

I'm glad smoking is illegal in bars and restaurants in NY, and has been for some years now. While I enjoy smoke-free bars myself, I'm mostly glad for the employees. "Will I be breathing in other peoples cigarette smoke for 40 hours a week?" shouldn't be a consideration when somebody is looking for a job, or trying to decide between a few different bars or restaurants to work at.
